Bombay Bistro - Acton

47 High Street, Acton, London W3 6ND

This is a great addition to the local area - the food is delicious, and lots of unusual dishes, beetroot koftas are a firm favourite. The food is really fresh tasting, well prepared, and with great flavour combinations - Tandoori King Prawns with Pomegranate, Sweet Potato & Butternut squash...
The staff are knowledgeable and clearly take pride in the tasty food and in making sure customers are happy. It's a diamond in an area where you wouldn't necessarily expect to find such great cuisine - try it, you won't regret it!

I’m not a great fan of Gordon Ramsay but have to say that he has a star in Jason Atherton and that the food is amazing. The principle was explained to us as 'English Tapas’ but it has more in common with the Willy Wonka everlasting gobstopper concept - you get fairly small sized portions but every mouthful is so packed full of flavour and excitment that it feels as if you are having full meals. There are great Veggie options so ask if you are vegetarian (or even if you aren’t!). We’ve always wanted to try desserts (the peanut butter and jelly sandwich sounds great) but are always too full despite 'small portions’! We have always left with that slightly spaced out happy feeling that amazing food produces. The staff have always been great when we went despite some of the other reviews. We found them friendly, not snooty, and full of good advice and not overly trying to 'push’ a big spend. Love this place and reserve it for special treats!

Delicious and inventive Dim Sum. I have been a few times since it opened, I went recently after a bit of a gap - and was a bit disapointed. The food was great, amazing flavours, as ever, but the service wasn’t great. My partner asked for a glass of water mid way through the meal, it took several reminders and the staff seemed to be running on autopilot, not as they used to be. Not 'bad’ but indifferent. Have to say the food was lovely, and also highly recomend the macaroons and other desserts - great to pop by and take some home if you are too busy to stop.

Carpenters Arms The Public Houses - Hammersmith

89-91 Black Lion Lane, London W6 9BG

Exceptionally good food in this smallish, intimate pub. Very popular especially on the weekends so book ahead, the food is modern British, not a huge selection on the menu so if you are with fussy eaters phone ahead - but the food has always been extremely good everytime I’ve visited, with good service and a nice atmosphere.

Fine for a quick pit-stop but don’t expect anything like the quality of Yauatcha - it is a different style of restaurant which aims to refuel busy diners rather than give a dining experience. And it kind of does what it says on the tin - now that the prices have gone back to 'normal’ you will get average priced, average food, nothing wrong with that.
The drinks are actually a bit more exciting than the menu, I especially love the Salt-lemonade.

Murano - Mayfair

Amazing experience to dine here, and it is a fine dining experience, expect the wait-staff to refold your napkin and unfurl it over you each time you take a 'comfort break’. The food here is amazing. Beautiful Italian food, some of which is reduced and refined to the point you get the most concentrated flavours imaginable. A simple salad of mozzerella and tomato is packed with flavours so intese that it feels like you’ve eaten a full meal! And with the variety of 'surprises’ between courses, and selection of amazing chocolates at the end. Great for a romantic meal with someone who enjoys the finer things in life.

Bocca Di Lupo Restaurant - Soho

Beautifully unusual dishes using inspired combinations of underused seasonal dishes. We chose to have lots of smaller dishes, only dish that didn’t hit it’s mark was salt cod (which I found a little too salty (yes I know!)) but my partner loved it. Great advice from the wait-staff too. Shame that there were a few people that abused the 'who’s next’ system of waiting! Other than that, great.

Sam's Brasserie & Bar - Chiswick

One of the best places for a relaxed weekend 'brunch’, you can eat in the bar area (boothes and tables) or in the main restaurant. Food is great, particularly the fish mains and italian influenced dishes, you can have a 'special occasion’ meal and there really does seem to be something for everyone (although I’d like a few more veggie options). On the brunch side the eggs benedict are near perfection!
