Travelodge London Southwark - Southwark
202 - 206 Union Street, Southwark, London SE1 0LH

Clean, quiet, comfortable, basic...
Stayed for 3 nights in a double room. The price was excellent about £150 for the 3 nights (the last night being only £19), and for that this close to the centre of London you can't complain.
The rooms are basic. There is a bed, there is a worktop table running under hte window (with bottle opener) and an open cupbaord to hang/stack your clothes. There is a Flatscreen TV with some freeview channels and tea & coffee facilities and that is that.
The bathroom is compact with toilet, sink and shower.
Everything was cleaned daily.
What more do you want?
Some reviews I have seen complain of train noise and noise from other guests. can hoenstly say we heard nothing and the room was right next to the train line (Room 402). The room was at the end of the corridor so we would not have had many guests passing by our room but there was hardly any noise, other than the odd clunk of a door closing.
Didn't partake of breakfast as we had other plans and it seemed a bit pricey.
The 24 hour shop next door is a bit expensive, there is a costcutter opposite Southwark tube which is a bit more reasonable, and Sainsburys Local opposite Waterloo tube (about 10-15 minute walk).
I would stay again if I wanted to stick to a budget, but I wouldn't want to pay any more than we did for this stay.

Standard Wetherspoon pub, the breakfast was good and reasonably priced just as you'd expect!
Morrisons Supermarkets - Gibraltar
Westside Road, Gibraltar
27-01-2009
Everything you would expect form a Morrisons store in the UK, except it’s sunny most of the time.
They have the full range of goods including bakery, fresh meat and cafe.
There is also a petrol station and plenty of free parking!
Millington Wood - Millington
York, North Yorkshire
27-01-2009
Millington Wood is a mature reserve tucked away near the village of Millington in the East Riding of Yorkshire at the foot of the Yorkshire Wolds.
The Wood is open all year round to enjoy, there is a circular walk of about 2 miles which takes you through the ancient woodland and at the very top offers some spectacular views across the rolling hills and fields of the Yorkshire Wolds countryside. The path is very steep in places and sturdy footwear is required.
The wood is home to many species fo animals, you may spot bat boxes on several of the trees as you walk round, the East Riding of Yorkshire countrysise events team organise bat box events where you can go and learn more about the types of bats living at Millington. There are also owls that can be seen and heard in the early evenings and Roe Deer at the very top of the Wood which you can sometimes spot moving around in the twilight.
Millington is also home to a large charcoal kiln and the wood is actively managed to produce charcoal for use locally. Sometimes you may be lucky enough to visit when the smoke is rising from the chimneys around the kiln!
There is plenty of free parking and an information board at the entrance. The wood is well signposted from Pocklington.
The Balloon Tree Farmshop & Cafe - Gate Helmsley
Stamford Bridge Road, Gate Helmsley, York, North Yorkshire YO41 1NB
27-01-2009
The Balloon Tree is an excellent Farm Shop and Cafe between York and Stamford Bridge on the A166.
They have everything you could need from freshly picked vegetables and fruit from their own fields to meats from local farms. They also have a range of bread, cakes (delicious!!!), Ice Cream from local makers and a deli counter.
You can also pick up biscuits, preserves, fresh home cooked ready meals, fruit wines, local ales and other artisan products, even Potato Vodka!
The cafe is excellent and they currently offer a free cup of tea or coffee for all visitors before 11am!. You can sit and enjoy breakfast, sandwiches, light lunches and some lovely home cooked deserts.
In the summer there are wide arrays of fruits to be picked in the several pick your own areas from the obligaotry strawberrys to gooseberrs to raspberrys.
The prices are very reasonable, some of the items, fresh meat for example, may seem a little more expensive but for the quality they are absolute bargains!
Aeropuerto de Málaga - Málaga
Avenida Garcia Morato s/n, Pablo Ruiz Picasso Airport, 29004 Málaga
26-01-2009
Malaga Airport is undergoing a major building programme at the moment with the construction of a new terminal and facilities.
In all finding your way into the airport in a car is a bit treacherous at the moment, it’s very easy to miss the entrance to the car hire return area, meaning a long journey all the way to the top of the airport and then back down towards the motorway before you can try again.
The airport itself is pretty well signposted in my opinion, all the gate areas are colour coded and you get and indication of which area you need to go to (A, B or C) long before your gate is announced giving you plenty of time to get in the right place before your flight boards!
They also now seem to have men in orange jumper all over the place offering assistance to the elderly or infirm with heavy luggage which I think is a nice touch!
The duty free shop here is very good with a large array of goods on offer!
The rest of the shops are absolute rubbish! Expensive and lacking in goods they seem to prey on people that want to get rid of the rest of their euros before boardign a plane.
The food is absolutely crazy!
On a reent flight to the UK we decided that we would try and avoid the slightly exepnsive cost of a sandwich on the plane by grabbing something at Malaga.
A sandwich was EUR 6!!!!
500ml drink was EUR 3!!!!
A complete rip off, and the extortionate charges of the budget carrier we were using were far more reaonsable at £6 for a sandwich, crisps and drink!
Can’t agree with other reviews about the car hire desks, they’ve all been friendly towards me when I’ve used them.
So in summary, decent airport, good duty free, eat before you go!
twoyorkie A bit of turmoil at the moment but when the new building is finished and the new approach roads from the west are finished it will all be good...Still free parking at T3 area (dont park on disabled bays as although no charges for parking are implemented the moment for normal spaces ,towing and a 70€ fine will be waiting on your return)
Parking in the airport is reasonable compared to UK airports 1 hour is about €1.50...so acceptable !
So to update from April 2010.. The new terminal is finished but all parking as we know it has changed so go a bit earlier to sus out the new areas ...also the arrivals emerge from the new biulding ,not old exit in the dark !! GO EARLIER !!

Leeds Bradford International Airport - Yeadon

Everyone else seems to like LBIA, not me I’m afraid!
I had the 'pleasure’ of using Leeds Bradford for a flight on Jet2 to Malaga. I’ve flown from lot’s of the smaller regional airports serviced by the likes of Ryanair, Jet2, etc. and can honestly say I did not enjoy the experience at LBIA.
The check in areas were ok, and whilsts some parts, including the dedicated Jet2 areas were obviously put up temporarily pending a rebuilding project, generally it was ok for an airport of this size.
Immigration again was not too bad, the queue was short and we were through fairly quickly.
The departure lounge however was a little like being in someones front room, if a flight was departing from some of the gates it made getting around the lounge more or less impossible as people crowded round the gate cmopletely blocking the entrace to WH Smith and the Duty Free. We were temped upstairs by a sign saying there was a further WH Smith shop up there only to find it closed and more of a cubicle than shop.
Maybe I’m just being picky but after using airports such as Manchester and Newcastle I’ve started to expect more of an experience from being at the airport, a spacious, comfortable lounge I feel is now a must have and several large shops to look around whilst you are waiting.
Returning to LBIA was a highlight though as we were fairly quickly back on landside after a short wait for a bus to collect us from the aircraft and a small queue at border control, our bag was already on the belt meaning we could make a quick exit, 20 minutes from touching down on the runway to being back in the car!
Hopefully, LBIA will be much improved when it’s much publicised masterplan starts to come in to effect!

Can be a bit hit & miss here in terms of service and quality!
It’s the standard Wetherspoon’s affair so you know ther food and drink will be well priced. But sometimes, food-wise the quality just isn’t up to scratch, chips have arrived cold, steaks not cooked properly, veg was even frozen once! But on other occassions it’s been up there with the best of them and excellent quality.
Always a good place to meet up at the beginning of the night with the cheap drinks on offer, especially pitchers of cocktails which are good!
Also has a great outdoor area for soaking up the sun with a cold beer during the summer months!
Evil Eye Lounge - York

One of the best places for a drink or three in York city centre!
They have a massive selection of drinks available including some very strange artisan beverages!
This place looks like a bit of a dive on first impression, it can be a bit dark and one way in goes down an alleyway but it is so charming and welcoming with a brilliant atmosphere!
The food here is also fanstastic. The drinks are reasonable and they have an internet cafe.
It’s situated on Stonegate but you have to really look out for it or you could walk straight past The main entrance on Stonegate is through a shop the Evil Eye has at the front. The shop sells a massive amount of weird and wonderful beers and spirits!
Pasaje del terror - Blackpool

ABOSLUTELY TERRIFYING!
I’ll never go through the pasaje del terror again, but don’t let that put you off! If you like being scared absolutely witless then this is the place for you in Blackpool, is a bit pricey to get in but well worth it, a hell of a lot more firghtening than anythnig else!
It’s like being in your own full blown horror movie!!!
On my first visit people were screaming and running to get out of the exit so quickly that everyone ended up in a heap on the floor! What makes that worse is that you come out in a busy area and everyone turns round to look at you as you emerge form the darkness, usually screaming like a girl!
