Police Box Coffee Shop - Edinburgh

99A BOLLYWOOD THE COFFEE BOX,Bruntsfield Place, Bruntsfield, Edinburgh, Scotland EH10 4HG

09-04-2009

The coffee box is a converted police box, similar to the ones in town, but a little smarter. It is right on the corner of the meadows and actually serves good quality coffee! I had an espresso for £1.20 and it was gorgeous. They do ice creams and bagels too and are worth a visit for a sunny day in the meadows…

The Barony Bar - Edinburgh

81-85 Broughton Street, Edinburgh, Scotland EH1 3RJ

18-03-2009

I would class the barony as a nice 'regular’ pub. It has a relaxed atmosphere and no telly unless there’s international rugby on. Being on the verge of the New Town, the prices can be steep, but there is always interesting ale on tap and the food, which has been variable, seems to have come good. Worth a trip for quiet weekend lunch.

La Favorita - Edinburgh

325 Leith Walk, Edinburgh, Scotland EH6 8SA

18-03-2009

La Favorita is an ultra-modern Italian restaurant, offering a refreshing take on many Italian favourites. The service from the staff here is the best I have experienced anywhere, and the prices range from reasonable to only slightly expensive. My favourite Edinburgh restaurant!

Sir Walter Scott Monument - Edinburgh

Princes Street Gardens, Edinburgh, Scotland EH2 2EJ

28-01-2009

The Scott Monument is uniquely placed on Princes Street, so that if you’re willing & able to climb the 287 steps, the rewarding view makes it all worthwhile. The steps do get a bit narrow near the top, so it’s not for the claustrophobic, but on a clear day you will see over the Forth into Fife, and enjoy the glorious panorama of Edinburghs city centre. Well worth a visit in my book.
