Yes, Ryanair is impossibly cheap. But they earn their money in more roundabout ways.
If you want to fly with a no-frills airline, they are certainly an option. Frills to them include checking in at the airport and paying with a credit or debit card.
Often, there are deals on the website, and if you’re flexible sometimes you can get free flights. I did this last year when I flew to Berlin - the only thing that cost me money was checking in a bag. (£10 total cost)
I recently got excited when they were giving away free seats on flights and searched frantically for dates to fly to Venice (Treviso airport - that’s another thing, they often fly to the less convenient airports). This is the break down of costs, they might be wrong, I’m going off memory:
I found free outgoing flights taxes paid for by Ryanair.
The inbound flights were also 'free’ but had taxes (about £15 each passenger)
Then they charge you to check in at the airport. (£8/each way per passenger)
They also charge you if you want to check in any luggage. (£8/each way per bag)
Then they charge you to use a credit or debit card. (£4 per person per journey - so £16 for 2 people flying return)
Total cost was £70, which is still very cheap, but a lot more than the £30 you think it is when you see the cost of the flights.The last charge is the one that made me most angry. Although, take note, there is no card handling fee if you pay with Visa Electron. (?!)
tip! buy food in airport for flight, on board offerings are rubbish and expensive.

Oui, Ryanair est incroyablement pas chère. Mais ils gagnent leur argent du autre façon. Si vous voulez voler avec une compagnie aérienne low-cost, c'est certainement une option. Vous devez faire le Checking à l'aéroport et de payer avec une carte de crédit ou de débit.
Souvent, il y a des offres sur le site, et si vous êtes flexible, parfois vous pouvez obtenir des vols gratuits. Je l'ai fait l'année dernière quand j'ai pris l'avion pour Berlin - la seule chose qui m'a coûté de l'argent a été le contrôle dans un sac. (£ 10 coût total)J'ai récemment était excités quand ils m'ont donné gratuitement des sièges sur les vols et à chercher frénétiquement des dates pour se rendre à Venise (aéroport de Trévise - c'est autre chose, ils volent vers les aéroports les moins pratique). (Façon 8£ par passager) Ils vont également vous facturer si vous voulez vérifier dans tous les bagages. (Façon 8£ par sac) Puis ils chargent d'utiliser une carte bancaire. (4 livres par personne et par voyage - coût, de manière 16£ pour 2 personnes vol aller-retour) Total était de £ 70, qui est encore très bon marché, mais beaucoup plus que les 30 livres que tu crois que c'est quand on voit le coût des vols. La dernière charge est celui qui m'a fait le plus en colère. Bien que, de prendre note, il n'y a pas de carte de la taxe de traitement si vous payez avec Visa Electron. (?!) Astuce! acheter de la nourriture à l'aéroport pour le vol, sur les offres de conseil sont des ordures et coûteux.

The airport was pretty much all I saw when I visited Dublin this week as I was only on Irish soil for 7 hours and I was in the airport for 1.5 of those hours.
It seems quite sprawling and I got a bit lost trying to find my gate, but that may have been due to my frantically running around trying to find both a birthday present for my flatmate and a toilet.
It didn’t take much time to check in/get through security at all, although I didn’t have any bags or drugs or bombs.
It was a relatively pleasant experince though. Could do with more ATMs.
dmj1962 Easyjet do the same thing - £4.95 per transaction to pay by Visa. It is irritating but, as you say, the overall prices are still hard to beat.
And what is this Electron thingy?

BushGirl I had a Visa Electron before I was 18, I don’t know how you’d get one as a grown up though.
