ibis Styles Berlin City Ost - Friedrichshain

Scharnweberstr. 21-22, 10247 Berlin

26-02-2010

Cliffs of Moher - Doolin

R478, Co. Clare Doolin

19-03-2009

The cliffs get a five star as the belong to Mother nature and I haven’t seen her create anything less than a five star in my life. They are a beautiful place a kin to those at Dover only the Dover cliffs look more beautiful from a distance while you need to be on top of the cliffs of Moher to have your breath taken away. It’s beautiful during any weather but if you get there on a foggy day, when the fog comes up to the edge of the cliff and you imagian you could just step onto the cloud until you hear the sea gulls calling below. Beautiful just don’t get to close !

hotel croatia cavtat - Cavtat

Frankopanska 10 10, 20210 Cavtat - Dubrovnik, n/a Cavtat

13-03-2009

This is a beautiful place to spend a holiday. The Hotel is really a 4 star hotel even if it has the 5 stars, the reason I would take one of them away is because of it’s size as it is a very big hotel and sometimes they can be a bit on the plain side. However the staff are exceilent and you have everything you need in the hotel as it looks over the small and beautiful fishing village of Cavtat. We stayed on a bed and breakfast deal here for a week and the breakfast was fabulous with every type of breakfast laid out for you to chose from but there was also a full board option which was also very good that a few people that we spoke to had said you’d want for nothing.
We had most of our evening meals in Cavtat or we went to Dubrovnik which was not that far away about 16km by road or 15mins on a water taxi. The food was lovely and at a good price at about €50 for the two of us for a full 3 coarse dinner and a house bottle of wine.
Croatia is one of the most beautiful countries I’ve been in, it has that Italian feel and look to it which I love, that feeling of contentment sitting in the evening sun with a glass of wine looking out at the sea. But of coarse that’s the trouble with holidays, their holidays and sooner or later you know you got to go home and get used to the rain again.
If you do stay at the hotel be sure to pay the little extra for the sea view, I promise it will be worth it.

lough gur - Limerick

lough Gur,, Co. Limerick, n/a Limerick

11-03-2009

Lough Gur is an ancient places with almost every Irish legend touching on it in some way. It is said that from this lake the legend of Excalibur was burn as the lake belongs to the Goddess Aine, who was a Goddess of white and light who presented a gold sword to her lover from the lake. There are many other legends such as this to go with the lake as it was always seen as a holy place. The lake was origanlly a natural fortress with an island in the middle (Knockainy)but half of it was drained at the end of the 19th century. Every major museum in the world is said to have a piece from Lough Gur. It is now a national park with some lovely walk ways around it. But if you are visiting beware as the lake is said to take anyone who falls asleep near her shore or maybe it is the Goddess herself who loves to play games and might want you to join in.

ConcertTravel I agree, lough gur is fantastic, in particular the stone circle which is the largest in Ireland. I was there yesterday and met the farmer that owns and takes care of the site. Tim is his name too! He showed me the visitors book with signatures from people from every corner of the world.
The stone circle is well worth a visit.

Nancy's Bar - Donegal

Front Street Ardara, Co Donegal , n/a Donegal

11-03-2009

One of the most beautiful parts of Ireland is Donegal. My wife is from this part of Ireland and even due it kills me to say it, this is probably the place that most people out side of Ireland have an image of the country, that postcard image this is it. There are lots of little towns dotted around Donegal and Ardara is one of these out the coast road. Nacy’s is in the middle of the town just round the bend and over the small bridge. This is an old public house that has lost none of its charm. There is no cash regesiter only a drawer for notes and the top of a barrel for lose change. The bar is small but you can wonder into the house and fine yourself a seat there. Nancy’s also do some wonderful pub grub with most of it being sea dishes as the catch will come straight from Killybegs. Nancy’s is a lovely wee pub but if you don’t get to it at least try to get to Co. Donegal and see Ireland as it appears on the post cards.

Ryanair - Dublin

Dublin Airport, Dublin

11-03-2009

Poor old Ryanair, now their going to charge to use the toilet on the flights which is going to be fun ! I use Ryanair about 2 to 3 times a year and find them very useful and cheap as long as you play by their rules. It’s alot easier for guys I suppose than girls on the traveling side of things as I usually only take achange of clothes and a couple of sets of underware with me when I’m away for a weekend and I’m going with ryanair cause anything else I need I buy when I get their even down to my toothbrush. On my return trip I dump the stuff again as I don’t need it. The problem of coarse comes when you are going someplace longer than two days and your going with Ryanair ?, and now they are planning on removing all their check in desks and you will have to do it yourself and I can’t see that making things any easier when their weigh in machine will probably be demanding more money off of you every two minutes. But I suppose the best thing to do is travel light for weekends away with Ryanair (this is where they get their 4 stars) and for longer than that go with somebody else (this is where they get 1 star) and have a nice trip.

Jasmine Palace - Limerick

O'Connell Mall, O'Connell Street, Limerick

10-03-2009

This Chinese restaurant has been there a long time and does very well on a Sunday because it has a lot of room and serves a good selction for a good price, however unlike the other reviewers I really don’t see what makes the Jasmine stand out from any other Chinese restaurant I’ve ever been in, they’ve all got gold and Dragon’s which there is nothing wrong with but the all look kind of the same ! The only difference is in the food and the Jasmine does serve tasty food hoever due to it’s size it does serve up food sometimes that is for quantity rather than quility.
