West Wittering beach - West Wittering

West Wittering Beach, Chichester, West Sussex PO20 8AJ

05-07-2010

This beach is definitely one of the best in the south of England. The crystal clear sand is wonderful and quite a luxury in the UK, plus there is loads to do there!
They have a lovely cafe, an ice cream stall (if i remember correctly?) and open showers to rinse off all that sand and salt.

There is also a little sand island about a mile across the sea which would be fun to get to on an inflatable boat or something along those lines, but no matter how close it looks, don't attempt to swim across unless you are a fit and very strong swimmer! (as my boyfriend learned the hard way!)

There are also great things for kids there including trampolines. I also saw dogs running around, so this is also a dog friendly beach.

There are camping sites and B&Bs near by, so this would be the perfect location for a fun adult or family day out or even a great beach break!

Miso Noodle Bar - Croydon

11/12 Suffolk House, George Street, London CR0 1PE

18-01-2008 (updated on 18-09-2008)

If you are looking for a Japanese restaurant in Croydon and a cheaper alternative to Wagamama, you should try Miso.

But as they say, you get what you pay for, and i wasn’t too impressed with Miso, especially compared to Wagamama which is just across the road from it.
Personally, i think they’d do better if they had a bigger menu, maybe something like Sushi or Bento. The ramen is very bland tasting compared to most Japanese restaurants, but it is still a nice treat if you don’t have much change in your pocket.

Miso, like Wagamama, is also conveniently just around the corner from Croydon college, so it’s perfect for any hungry students who fancy something a little different and healthier than McDonalds.

Cornish Cyder Farm - Penhallow

Healey's Cornish Cyder Farm, Truro, Cornwall TR4 9LW

18-09-2008

If you like your cider, you must visit this cyder farm! It’s not only a good excuse to go out and stock up on cheap delicious cider, but its a great family day out!

For the children theres the animal farm where they can see and pet the animals, and tractor rides around the entire farm, including fascinating tours to show how cider is made including a cider museum and distillery, even a jam kitchen!

And for the adults, if the above doesn’t interest you enough, there is of course the farm shop which sells over 40 varieties of delicious fruit products, including a wide range of ciders produced at the farm, brandy, fresh jams and fresh pressed apple juice!
And if you like to stock up on cider, you’ll be doing your wallet a favour too as you can get great deals such as 20 bottles of Cornish Rattler for £19.99! A great save considering they sell single bottles in supermarkets for
£2.50+ each!

And if like me you have no idea where to start in the farm shop, they have free taste testing stalls, allowing you to taste all of the best selling ciders and wines the farm produces… just make sure you don’t get too carried away!

I would recommend drivers to be limited to only 1 or 2 drinks to taste as some are rather high in alcohol.

And of course, if you need a break from all of that, there’s a lovely restaurant and cream tea café just next door to the farm shop.

knibbd What a wonderful reason for a holiday in Truro next year!

Wagamama - Croydon

4 Park Lane, London CR0 1JA

18-01-2008

Wagamama has to be one of my favourite Japanese restaurants so far. This particular branch in Croydon, conveniently just around the corner from Croydon college, is particularly good. The service is wonderful and there is a lovely atmosphere, not to mention the food is amazing! If you get a chance to go there, you must order a bowl of ramen and a plate of Gyoza (japanese dumplings). From what i remember, they do prawn gyoza, duck gyoza and chicken gyoza, served with plum sauce. It makes a wonderful snack, or a brilliant side dish to a meal.
Wagamama can be a little pricey with some of the dishes, for example a bowl of ramen costs £8, but you get what you paid for! The size of the ramen bowl is huge and it will always make you full! And if you can't eat it all, ask and they will put the rest in a pot for you to take home.
The desserts and drinks are also delicious! They make fresh juice drinks, and even some vegetable drinks that may sound strange on the menu, but taste amazing!
Of course, if you're looking for a cheap snack or lunch, you could just go for something simple such as a bowl of Japanese rice and Japanese pickles, which comes to around £3 and is absolutely delicious despite how bland it sounds. You would not have to worry about drinks either, becuase you will get served a cup of green tea for free.

So, if you fancy something a little different from fish and chips or a curry, try going to wagamama! You will be impressed.
