Hands Hair Salon - Soho
130 Wardour Street, Soho, London W1F 8ZN
13-11-2009
I saw this place the other day after a trip to Princi down the road and couldn't work out if it was new or just one those places I'd never noticed before.
Anyway, it stuck in my brain and i went back to get my hair sorted yesterday, and was really glad I did.
Turns out Hands used to be on Broadwick Street, but they moved in February of 09 (so not that new then) to their new home on Wardour Street. Inside it's mildly trendy without being overdesigned, and they don't have that glaring-bright-lights and overloud music thing going on that a lot of hairdressers feel they have to do.
All the guys I spoke to were really friendly and chatty, without resorting to the inane 'going on holiday this year?' hairdresser chatter...and most importantly I got a really good haircut.
Nothing too drastic, nothing outlandish, just a good solid and up-to-date cut that was exactly what I asked for. You can't ask for much more than that can you?
Prices? Men's cut starts at £30 and women's from £39.
Borough Market - Borough
8 Southwark Street, London SE1 1TL
12-06-2008
Yes Borough Market is becoming a bit of a cliche for anyone who likes to eat and is in London, but it’s still very much worth a visit.
My tip would be: get there early, because after about 10 o clock the place just gets completely rammed and that detracts from the experience a bit.
try and get there before 9 and you can speak to the stall holders, relax and have a coffee and not have to elbow your way to get anywhere near the good stuff.
Even better: go on a fiday evening around 4-5pm and the place is not only not packed but you can pick up some real bargains as everyone is packing up to go home.
