Zur Winzergenossenschaft - Ernst
Moselstr. 59, 56814 Ernst
20-02-2010
You will find small hotels and bed and breakfast places like a rope of pearls at the Moselle. The hotel zur Winzergenossenschaft in Ernst, just before Cochem, geographically is clearly part of that but does not shine any brilliance of pearls at all. The room kept its charme of the 70s. The too soft double-bed was fitted into a too wide wall unit. The ceiling with its hanging lamp has been enmeshed by a few big spiders which apparently find their major prey at night. The shower is in the room but you are being rewarded with a bathroom right next to it. A mini-dream in classic 70s orange. Bending down at the washing basin leads to collision with the toilet. The breakfast was OK, only lacking a bit of fruit. The service is very helpful and nice. The price for a night for one person including breakfast is Euro 36,00 and for the whole experience appropriate.
Park Hyatt Hamburg - Altstadt
Bugenhagenstr. 8, im Levantehaus, 20095 Hamburg
16-02-2010
Being a native Hamburger it's extremely rare for me to stay in a Hamburg hotel - not to say - never. Therefore I cannot say much about the Hyatt Hotel. I haven't tested the restaurant yet. But now about the things I can say something about: Three minutes walking distance from the central station, in the Levante-house in the Mönckebergstrasse, the Hyatt is a wonderful meeting point if you have business people in town. Past the concierges on the ground floor up to the second level, turn left along the wide corridor, past the reception you will find a nice café at the end. Here you have suites of furniture (armchairs, sofas) to sit together comfortably but there are also tables at the windows where you can sit a bit more seclusively. At the start, the service is attentive but after that decreases quite a bit. I can recommend the various choices of coffee from numerous countries. All in all an acceptable, centrally located meeting point which also allows for more intimate conversations.
Park Plaza Trier - Triers
Nikolaus-Koch-Platz 1, 54290 Trier
11-02-2010
The hotel in the center of Trier is a nice one, one can have a pleasant stay there. I only stayed one night there and I did not receive a fruit basket on my room ;-)I did not have dinner at the restaurant that is why I cannot say anything about the food. The breakfast was, for such a hotel, appropriate, international and the service was good. I did not have time to visit the wellness area. The location is very central. It is very quiet in the mornings even though I had my window open. Amazing! The hotel is very recommendable. One should have the necessary change to stay there. Single rooms start form 110.00 Euros without breakfast.
Coellner Hof Hotel & Gaststätten GmbH - Neustadt-Nord
Hansaring 100, 50670 Köln
06-02-2010
The Coellner Hof is in the centre of Cologne. If you - like myself this time - have to go the trade fare and exhibition ground Expo XXI then this hotel is ideal. You are five minutes walk from there. The hotel itself is rustic and furnished with a lot of wood. The guests are more tourists than business people. The rooms are decorated in different styles. I had one in a farmer's style which was very comfortable. Unfortunately I had no mini bar in my room, not even a bottle of water. The room was, although on the sixth floor, noisy as it was situated towards the front of the main road. When making a reservation ask for a room towards the back. There is a sauna which, due to lack of time, I have not been able to use. The price of 77 Euro for a single room is not quite a bargain but acceptable for Cologne city centre.
Sportwelt Radeberg - Radeberg
Am Sandberg 2, 01454 Radeberg
05-02-2010
From the motorway, the Sport Hotel is situated at the entrance of the city. The center of Radeberg is a bit far. The rooms are OK but nothing special. It was clean, it smelled just a little strange. The food in the evening was quite bad, not enough staff. We did not have breakfast in the hotel because it was already expensive for 66 Euros without breakfast. Overall a bad value for money and not recommended.
Hotel Nassauer Hof - Wiesbaden
Kaiser-Friedrich-Platz 3 -4, 65183 Wiesbaden
05-02-2010
The Nassauer Hof in Wiesbaden is "one of the leading hotels in the world". The hotel describes itself as: "One of the few remaining grand hotels in Europe and an established seminar and conference hotel. The Wilhelminische magnificent part of the hotel, centrally located in Wiesbaden, near Frankfurt, and at the gates of the Rheingau is a first class luxury hotel. Kings princes and dukes chose to reside at the Grand Hotel in Wiesbaden, Hessen, later followed by spa and swimming pool users. The five star superior hotel offers today every comfort and service of an international conference hotel for your conferences and seminars". I can only add: It's true. Pure luxury, great ambient, the very finest service. Not for a small budget.
Hotel Zur Heidschnucke - Hanstedt
Zum Auetal 14, 21271 Hanstedt
05-02-2010
I only know the food in the hotel zur Heidschnucke and that is delicious. The Heidenschnucke is not only neat but delicious as well. The portions are small. If one is very hungry then one should order a starter as well. The service is at a high level friendly and attentive. The prices are high but one does not eat Schnucke every day. ;o) The hotel also offers a meeting and sauna area but I have not been there. I would recommend this hotel to everyone who would like to do a short holiday because the area is a dream. To the Heideblüte twice a year which is also quiet full.
Zollenspieker Fährhaus - Kirchwerder
Zollenspieker Hauptdeich 143, 21037 Hamburg
05-02-2010
It is beautiful to sit in the Zollenspieker Ferry Station in the winter to get warm again with a pot of tea after a motorbike tour at -5 degrees. The view is on the Elbe and follows the slowly passing by ships. One forgets the high prices completely. Simply beautiful! The outdoor area is a biker meeting in the summertime.
Rheinland - Bonn
Rheinallee 17, 53173 Bonn
05-02-2010
It is a nice experience if you rely on someone to book a hotel room for you. Such an experience is the Hotel Rheinland in Bonn. The room at the top under the roof, the toilet in the corridor. The shower was a mess after eight men took a shower before me. At least there was a sink in the room. The breakfast could not calm me down but it was not too bad. Creaking stairs in an old mansion. The lobby in classic plush. Perhaps my expectations were too high with these prices but I do not think that I will spent the night there again. It was an experience. :oD
City Hotel Bad Vilbel - Bad Vilbel
Alte Frankfurter Str. 13, 61118 Bad Vilbel
04-02-2010
An average hotel which is located far from the center. The rooms are OK, clean and bright, the food at the restaurant is moderate, but not bad. The service tries its best but is not good. The hotel bar is poorly managed, but uncomfortable. The breakfast is in harmony with everything else - one gets full. All in all a rather bad experience.
