Oldrids & Co - Boston

11-17 Strait Bargate, Boston, Lincolnshire PE21 6UF

23-06-2012

Very much one of the more dominant stores in Boston. Long established department store, that always has something unique whether you are browsing for kitchen ware, cosmetics, fashion and even kitchen condiments.

However this choice is reflected in the price, unless you come during sale periods - then you are very likely to pick a bargain up. But for day to day items, they can be extremely overpriced.

Unfortunately, the restaurant has changed a lot over the years. Once it served great warm home style cooking, however recently: prices have increased, portion sizes have decreased, ingredients are not as fresh, service so-so and food dries out very quickly under the warmer.

Overall, store is worth a browse, but skip the restaurant.

Four Seasons Chop Suey House - Kirton

10-12 Station Road, Boston, Lincolnshire PE20 1EE

My local chinese takeaway, portion sizes and prices are much better than many of the places in Boston. Choice available is everything you expect and the food is far more consistent than other places. Can get very busy on the weekends though if you are calling in, like most places.

Personal favourites: the chicken balls which are of a proper size, crispy outside and soft on the inside. Also the beef or chicken in black bean sauce is very delicious.

Churches Restaurant - Boston

Perfect place for lunch, home cooked style food at very good prices. Selection of cakes and desserts are perfect with a quick drink. The interior of the old building just adds to the warm historic feel of boston.

The Italian Connection - Boston

Certainly a gem in Boston area for many many years, never been disappointed here. Delicious food all the time, lovely atmosphere, polite and friendly service all at a fair price.

Typical warm Italian food for all occasions

Jessop's the Bakers - Boston

High Street, Boston, Lincolnshire PE20 1DR

I have been eating Jessop's bakery sandwiches for a very long time, growing up in the boston and kirton area. I agree, they are extremely tasty, with soft fresh bread and thick slices of ham.  However unfortunately with time it seems the price is increasingly rapidly and filling portions are getting smaller. Particular as I enjoy supporting the local stores.

Perhaps only worth it as a treat on the days i am too lazy to make lunch.

Prezzo - Boston

20 Wide Bargate, Boston, Lincolnshire PE21 6RF

Eaten here a few times with groups of friends. The main dishes and specials are reasonable and what you would expect from a chain like this. Somewhat inconsistent at times, which i find most disappointing as I remember being pleasantly surprised on my first visit. The Eaton mess cheesecake (can't quite remember the complete/correct name) was very tasty and refreshing but just a little small.

Service is generally very good from my experience and the setting are very modern and comfortable, considering the limited options available in Boston.

no 14 bistro - Lincoln

14 Bailgate, Lincoln , Lincoln, Lincolnshire LN1 3AE

Modern, tasty and most importantly delicious food. A real gem at the top of the steep hill. Creme brulee was wonderful. Everything seems to be cooked with care and attention.

However i'm always surprised how quiet this restaurant is though, as the food is amazing.

Only minor complaint I have is the chef seems a little heavy handed with the salt on the main courses.

Even so highly recommended as it is rather unique in Lincoln.

Browns Restaurant and Pie Shop - Lincoln

Tasty pies, in a warm setting. Worth a visit, but the price is only fair if you go with the Pie of the Day option.
