Celestial - Dulwich

As a supporter of local independent shops, I went shopping in East Dulwich and amongst other things bought a bracelet for a friend in Celestial as a Christmas present. Unfortunately, it was too big and yesterday was the first chance she had to return it.

I am absolutely aware that it is the prerogative of a shop keeper whether they offer any return options unless an item is faulty. However, it is normal practice to offer a credit note or a replacement item at the same cost or higher. It was made very clear to my friend by the woman in the shop (Manager/Owner) that she would not receive a credit note as it was after 28 days.

There was nothing in the shop at that time that was a suitable exchange and due to the off-hand attitude of the senior staff, my friend was adamant that she would not spend one penny more and walked out of the shop with an item she can’t wear and a very bad taste in her mouth.

It amazes me that in this time of financial uncertainty and a diminishing high street, this kind of dire customer service can prevail. Clearly I will never shop there again, nor will any of my friends. Hopefully the owners will read this and mend their ways.
