Best fish and chips on the Northumberland coast.
Ample free parking, seating inside and out. The restaurant is clean and even at their busiest, there are no tables left with plates to be cleared.
The portions are huge! I realised I should have really had a kids portion when my food arrived.
so, once you’ve managed to eat your meal, make sure you leave enough room for one of the many variety of ice creams they have on offer in their ice cream parlour. Mmmmmm……nom nom
Maxprofits I go here quite often for my fish and chips , they also do a breakfast menu for the early starters

My brothers local pub, so we decided to pop in.
We were starved so ordered an 8oz steak, a chicken burger and baked potato and chips (yes, potato potato). Although the pub wasn’t too busy, the food took a while to come to our table and was disappointed that my steak wasn’t cooked as I ordered. It didn’t come with the sauce I ordered either, so had to have that addressed!
The chicken burger was scoffed and so was the potato potato, with a nice touch of melted cheese on the chips.
My hubby popped out for a cigarette and ordered me some apple pie and custard, which never arrived.
Can’t fault the friendliness of the staff, so this rating gets 3 stars.

I enjoyed this pub, even tho the service was a little laboured.
We had no trouble parking, the pub itself is nice and welcoming, but they were trying a new ‘service’ the day we went. Rather than order at the bar, they would take the order from the table. We waited for 20mins before we had to get someone.
The food when it arrived was not as hot as I would have liked, although I still enjoyed my Sunday roast. My sister in law had the burger, which was hot and tastey…i think it was her burger cooking that made our lunch cold!
Its reasonably priced, and we enjoyed a bottle of Chilian Sauvignon Blanc…very crisp.
I wouldn’t rule out going here again. Especially in the summer. The outdoor seating area looks like it could be a real crowd pleaser!

We’ve always liked this pub and will always pop in for something to eat when we are in the area.
The staff are always friendly and helpful, and the pub itself has a wonderful feel to it.
The food is delicious, and their sunday lunches are very reasonably priced.
They serve a good pint too!

Such a friendly little place. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner...all day!
This used to be the Ocean Fry chippy. The fish and chips were great here, and the Downham Cafe has followed on with delicious f&c's.
There's a huge selection on the menu, they even do desserts!
Staff are really friendly and helpful, and its a lovely warm atmosphere. Take a seat by the window and watch the world go by as you tuck in to some cheap and cheerful grub.

We watched a Cee Lo Green concert here the other night. I wasn't sure what to expect really from a 'student' venue. Overall, I was quite pleased. Its quite an intimate venue and you feel wherever you are in the room you are quite close to the stage.
We found parking a nightmare, but eventually found a space next to a church across the road.
Anyway, the bar staff were friendly and pleasant which makes a huge change from grumpy overworked lads and lasses.

What a friendly little salon this is. This was my first visit and I've had a brilliant time getting my hair trimmed! Steve, the owner is an absolute cracker, I feel as if I've been going there all my life! Its inexpensive too, but watch out for the Brazillian Blow Dry...£75, seems like a bargain. I'll certainly be making this salon my 'local'.

I was hungry, this takeaway was local.
Not much choice on the menu I thought, I fancied something szechuan style, but there was only one dish.
Its an inexpensive takeaway and I ordered the prawn and bamboo shoots with fried rice and ate the lot. I really enjoyed it.

This is a lovely 'oldy worldy' pub/restaurant/hotel. A relaxed atmosphere in which to have a drink and a chat, are indulge yourself in their delicious menu.
In the summer, go and enjoy a pint in the sunshine (if we get any) and sit outside at one of the many tables and chairs provided.
I personally love this pub.
