Anise - Chorley

61 Chapel Street, Chorley, Lancashire PR7 1BU

Boycott Anise they are selling real fur products. Having been a regular customer of AniseI am absolutely shocked that they are selling gloves with a fur trim. These are very cheap, obviously imported, probably from China. The fur looks like cat fur. This fur is produced in the most cruel way, cats are skinned alive and then thrown in a pile to suffer in agony for hours before they die.Whatever fur it is the animal will have met a grim end. I have always shopped at Anise believing it to be an ethical shop. Very angry and disappointed.

The Ritz Hotel - Mayfair

My wife wanted to go for afternoon tea. Booking is a performance in itself but the booking staff were lovely when we had to cancel on booking through illness and found us a cancellation for another. It is a bit like a conveyer belt as they have so many sittings. We managed a 1.30pm sitting which was not too bad for afternoon tea. the table we got was great, plenty of room for two with a good view but some tables were very squashed in. Service was superb, efficient but friendly and not intrusive. They offer more food than you can eat and will not let you take food away with you, fortunately my wife had a large handbag for the cakes which we could not eat! Our main criticism is that he chicken and egg for the sandwiches is not free range or sourced so we would not eat them but we had enquired in advance and we were given alternatives. we would have expected that an establishment such as The Ritz would provide better quality produce. Liked the pianist and being able to make requests.

The Wolseley - Mayfair

Had lunch at The Wolsey last week. Was outstanding. The Sea Trout was the best I have ever tasted. served on a bed of samphire, mushrooms and peas. Chose roasted carrots, Lyonaise potatoes and salad to accompany. The cherry and pistachio tart with pistachio ice cream was heavenly. The cheese board top quality. Service is relaxed and friendly but highly efficient. The building is remarkable and atmospheric. the restaurant was full but not intrusive, great atmosphere.
