I recently was taken by my children to celebrate my birthday at Frankie & Benny’s.

The waiter who was responsible for our table was very professional and pleasant. He gave us time when we wanted it to decide what we wanted to eat but was never far away when we needed anything. The food was hot and very good. I asked for a variation f what was on offer but my needs/want was accomodated without a fuss.

When we had all finished eating and our table was cleared the lights dimmed and Cliff Richard’s “Congratulations” was played. Whiloe this was going on a birthday cake with candals was brought to our table by our waiter and at the end of “Congratulations” all the diners in the restaurant clapped. I found this quite embarrasing but it certainly made me feel special and my birthday one I will never forget.

To celebrate a birthday, anniversary or to “pop the question” I would recommend Frankie & Benny’s for good food, good service and a great atmosphere.

The only thing I didn’t like was the Italian lesson in the toilets. Music would’ve been better. That is why I have only awarded four stars.

I have visiated Bodmin Jail several times and taken family visiting from up country and exchange students who have all loved the experience.

The history and background of some of the people that were imprisoned there was informative and yet quite eye opening. Some of their crimes were quite trivial to be locked up in such a harsh place.

I was interested upon reading the book that is on sale how one of the governors turned the punishment wheel into a profitable venture. Instead of spending hours on the treadwheel serving no purpose just punishment, the governor had the treadwheel connected to grinding wheels to grind local cereals into flour and charged for the service.

We have eaten in both the bar area and La Scala, the restaurant upstairs, when it was open. The food was amazing. I particularly like the way in La Scala you pick your food and it is cooked for you from scratch. I was quite surprised how quickly the food was prepared, cooked and served. I look forward to La Scala re-opening and would thoroughly recomend it to everyone.

I thought I was too old for a tattoo but have been assured I’m not. I chose to go to Crimson Canvas as I liked the look of the business from the outside. It didn’t have the same look or feel as other studios I’ve looked in and passed. I’d also heard really good things about Mary-Jane and have seen some of her art work so I know she is a talented artist. I had an initial consultation, free of charge, where we discussed my ideas and wants. Mary-Jane drew up my design and I loved it. It was a bit bigger than I thought but because of what I’d chosen, a peony, it had to be bigger than I thought a – to do it justice & b – to allow a realistic image to be achieved & c- to kepp the finished image for ever. After a lengthy discusion over colours my design is being “tweeked” and I’ll be getting it soon. Having seen Mary-Jane’s art work that has been transformed into “skin art”, better known as a tattoo, I am convinced my tattoo will look exactly like the design drawn by Mary-Jane. I have no hesitation in recomending Mary-Jane and Crimson Canvas to anyone wanting a truly unique piece of artwork for life. The piercings my daughters have had done, including dermal anchors, have healed with no problems and receive many compliments. All in all Crimson Canvas and Mary-Jane should be on you list to check out if you’re in the market for a piercing or a tattoo that no one else will have.
