Broadway Plaza - Birmingham

Ladywood Middleway, Birmingham, West Midlands B16 8LP

07-05-2009

The bowling alley at the broadway plaza is fantastic. Some of the arcade style games are great, in addition to the pool table and air hockey table. Bowling alleys are nice and tidy, and even at its peak busy time it feels spacious. Fantastic to go with friends, family or work. I went with work, my bowling is horrendous but we just had great fun and food available and fairly reasonably priced. Parking is a little tight at best and not cheap. But all worth it for a good day or night out bowling.

Ash End House Farm - Middleton

Middleton Lane, Tamworth, Staffordshire B78 2BL

07-05-2009

My 4 year old went on a trip with her nursery at Xmas to Ash End House Farm in Tamworth and enjoyed it thoroughly. Feedback from the teachers was that it is extremely well organised. I decided to take my daughter at Easter as they had Easter related activities and we certainly were not disappointed. The weather held up for us, although many activities are under cover so bad weather is no excuse to not attend. Activities included feeding the goats, hens, rabbits and other cute farm animals (animal feed, a badge and entrance is included in the entrance price). The activities included collecting your egg with your childs name on it, a chance to sit on and pet a pony/horse, and watching a very entertaining Punch and Judy show. There are also many creative activities like mechanical goat and cow milking devices. The play area and seating area to eat your own or shop bought food was great. The locally produced ice cream was fabulicious..and I am addicted to ice cream so I KNOW what I am talking about. Please go, ideal for under 6 year olds and upto 10 yrs old if kids have not been to a farm and would appreciate it. I definately will go again.

Taj Mahal Restaurant - Birmingham

1 Norfolk House Smallbrook Queensway, Birmingham, West Midlands B5 4LJ

29-07-2008

I visited Taj Mahal about 8 years ago and went a few days ago, and the food, the decor and some of the waiters!!! have not changed. Its almost like stepping back in time. The atmosphere of the restaurant (or the attempt) is a feeling of magnificence and extravagance. The waiting staff help you into your seats and open and place the napkin in your lap. This is definately not normal practice in most other Balti or Indian restaurants I know of!!!! The food is served up in lovely plates and presentation definately is impressive. Yet the food is nothing spectacular I am afraid. However, if you are looking for a quiet night out (emphasis on quiet), then please come to Taj Mahal. If you have the right company with you, it can be a spectacular evening wherever you are!!

Zorbas Restaurant - Acocks Green

359-361 Olton Boulevard East, Birmingham, West Midlands B27 7DP

25-07-2008

Greek food….check. Great service…check. Greek atmosphere… definately!!! Zorbas is a place I went to as a night out for our department christmas meal. I had never had a greek meal, and never experiened greek dancing. On leaving the restaurant, I felt like I had been introduced to a fantastic culture with great music, a leaning towards having fun, and ultimately, fantastic food. The evening is set up with an agenda which is followed pretty meticulously. Meal, then entertainment from Waiting Staff in the form of Greek dancing, and an opportunity to join in. Then follows a disco (corny pop and rock tunes which we were loving!!!), and then later some more Greek dancing. My memory is of forming a chain with all who dined at the restaurant that evening and going around the entire restaurant to the sound of greek music and the occasional greek style hollering. So much fun, and evening I won’t forget, and be prepared to let your hair down and have some unshamed cheesy fun. Food and service great and prices very reasonable. It was so great..i returned to celebrate a friends hen night there and it was fantastic!!

Nando's Chickenland - Birmingham

Unit 2 Star City,100 Watson Road, Birmingham, West Midlands B7 5SA

25-07-2008

I have always visited this Nandos as not only is it conveniently placed at Star City which has a cinema complex there, so combine movie with a meal, but also it is the only Nandos I know of that is halal meat friendly. The reason why queues can be a 30 -45 minute wait is because of the fact that everyone loves the mexican peri peri chicken meals and other such delicacies. The burgers and salads are great, as are the accompaniments to the almost obligatory peri peri chicken, such as corn on the cob, mexican rice and olives etc. One word to describe Nandos meals, in the words of childrens character Dora the Explorer…. Delicioso! There is a seating area for those who choose to wait in the restaurant, otherwise you can browse through some of the shops at the complex. And the Peri Peri sauces that accompany the meals are also to die for!!! (Can now be purchased at most reputable supermarkets for us to enjoy in our homes).

Caspian Pizza - Balsall Heath

560 Moseley Road, Birmingham, West Midlands B12 9AD

25-07-2008

Caspian Pizza…yummy, and halal meat so anyone and everyone can benefit from the great variety of meat and vegetarian varieties. The secret to the enjoyment of the Pizza is the pink Caspian Sauce. Too yummy to describe and if you ask for the recipe, be prepared to be told politely…..you can’t have it!! Love the service, friendly staff and also the fact that many dine here.

Lahore Kebab House - Birmingham

187 Ladypool Road, Birmingham, West Midlands B12 8LG

25-07-2008

Lahore Kebab House is a misleading title for this restaurant as most would dismiss it as a takeaway. It is infact a wonderful restaurant where most order to stay in and eat. The food is prepared beautifully each time I have dined here. The popular starter to go for is a mixed grill, which comes to your table still sizzling in the balti dish in which it was prepared..yummmmmmmm. It consists of bite sized pieces of all our punjabi balti starter favourites; chicken tikka, lamb tikka, lamb chops. Side order of fries is enough to serve a table of four! Lahore Kebab House is very generous with their servings. Stars lost only due to the fact that decor and ambiance of the eating experience is not the focus here, but what is the major selling point???..the food! Expect to have to ask for napkins and please try the array of main dishes from great balti dishes, rice and naan breads.

Imran Sweet Centre & Restaurant - Balsall Heath

264 Ladypool Road, Birmingham, West Midlands B12 8JU

25-07-2008

Imrans Restaurant is a place where the Pakistanis come to eat the Pakistani food…that alone is a sign that they are great at providing Punjabi style Balti dishes. From succculently prepared meat dishes to beautifully colourful vegetarian delights, their menu has something to appeal for everyone. The reason why they never received top marks is because the expression “service with a smile” is lost on most who work there. But this can be excused by their speedy service, great food, wonderful reputation, and not too harsh on your wallet either. Enjoy!!!!!!!!!
