Wow, a great way to spend a few hours.

Having recently stumbled upon this place I was a bit apprehensive on what to expect.
Well it is a very clean pub with a good range of alcoholic beverages and a good range of soft drinks aswell, the menu is a very uncomplicated affair with offers on all year round.
A very nice Pub with friendly staff, well worth a visit.

Jades Coffee House - Paignton

Gerston Road, Regent House, Paignton TQ4 5DY

21-09-2008

Well I used to frequent this place on a regular basis, but after a while I got fed up with the staff who hardly ever speak and the prices went sky high recently.
It was a nice little cafe but now if the idea on paying around £6/7 for a breakfast is your idea of fun, carry on.

Versys I wondered if the previous 2 reviewers are talking about the same place that I use on at least occassions in a week. Two big breakfasts for £6.90 I would say is fantastic value for money and the coffee is way better than anything you would get in Costa's,Cafe Nero etc.As for the staff all I can say is i wish a lot more business's in Paignton and come to think of it in the whole of Torbay had staff as brilliant as these.Judging by how busy this place is they must be doing something right,I would reccommend Jades to anyone!

This used to be the # 1 live music venue in the bay, and it is now #1 venue for eating.

English Heritage: Kirkham House - Paignton

Kirkham Street, Paignton TQ3 3AX

21-09-2008

It is not known exactly when Kirkham House was built, although the design suggests that it is of 14th or 15th century origin. It has been called “The Priest’s House”, suggesting a link with the church, but it may have been built as the residence of a prosperous local tradesman. The ground floor of the house contains a dining room and a large vaulted hall that would have been used for entertaining guests, while the first floor contains a gallery and three bedchambers. The kitchen was an outbuilding that exists today only as a few ruined walls, and there is a small garden adjacent to the house.

Mrs Ada Frances Jennings bequeathed the house to the nation in 1960, together with a sum of money for its repair. The stone and plasterwork have been extensively renovated, although many of the original oak beams and carvings can still be seen. The building contains reproduction furniture and tapestries in the medieval style
