The Angel Laser Clinic - Islington
144 liverpool road, London, London N1 1LA

I have just been for my first treatment at the Angel Laser Clinic. I am of Indian origin with a medium skin tone, and unfortunately I have noticeable facial hair (upper lip, sideburns, cheeks). My facial hair is by no means coarse but it is black in colour so noticeable if I don't bleach it.
I had a consultation and patch test a week ago where I found the clinic and practitioner to be extremely professional and clean. They explained very clearly to me how the process works and were honest about the results I could expect for finer hair. I opted to have the full face treated.
Today was the day of my first session. The practitioner first cleansed my skin thoroughly with alcohol and then helped me out by shaving any areas I had missed. She then asked me to mark out the areas we would be working on with a white pencil. She then gave me protective goggles to wear and begun the lasering.
The procedure is not painless but it's not painful either - definitely less painful than waxing - the description of 'rubber band being flicked on the skin' is about right. The laser used at this clinic has cold air (very cold) being blown out as the laser is pulsing and this protects the skin from being burned from the heat. The practitioner checked with me every few seconds to check I was tolerating the pain ok and after a small area, stopped to look at how my skin was doing. She noted that I wasn't showing much of a reaction and it would be safe to turn up the intensity of the laser. She did so and continued the lasering, again, checking with me regularly to make sure I was comfortable.
Once the lasering was done, she spent some time blowing cold air all over my face to cool my skin and then applied some cooling gel. She then went over the skin again with the cold air before removing the gel and white pencil from my face. One last blast with the cold air and then the SPF 50 cream was applied and I was taken back to the reception area.
The staff are extremely professional and again took me through the after care for my skin. I had red patches at the sideburns and upper lip (which is where my facial hair was worse). I paid for my session and booked another one for 4 weeks time.
I walked outside in the cold weather for approximately 20 minutes, and in that time, all the redness had disappeared. My skin feels a little sensitive, but that is to be expected after it's been shaved and lasered in the space of 24 hours!
All in all, I would thoroughly recommend this clinic to friends. They are focused on the safety of the procedure which was my main concern.
