Saltburn Cliff Railway - Saltburn-by-the-Sea

Saltburn-by-the-Sea TS12 1AZ

Reviewed using Blackberry. Get the app

A piece of history! The Cliff Lift is a clever piece of machinary that will get you from the pier to the top of Saltburn bank without having to walk up the steps or the steep hill. There is a small charge (with a discount for OAPs) but its a nice little ride as a treat. Everytime friends or family come to visit me they always want to have a ride: its a minor tourist attraction!

Loftus Taxis - Saltburn-by-the-Sea

Loftus Taxis offers a very friendly service and will often give priority to locals who need their service to get to an early or late work shift. Their prices are good, not too expensive and well worth it. The only drawback to the service is that they don’t do very late/early pick ups like 3am.

The Glades - Bromley

High Street, London BR1 1DN

All you need under one roof, nice atmosphere too.

The Glades contains all the major high street shops you'd expect plus some others! I love their sweet stations in the middle. It all seems very clean and tidy.

Empire Cinemas - Basildon

Festival Leisure Park, Basildon, Essex SS14 3DG

07-04-2010

An average cinema but very expensive compared to others I've been to.
When I went there was a huge queue for the snacks/tickets and I only wanted tickets so I thought this system was rubbish, they should have a separate place to buy tickets (with cash, I didn't have my card to use the quick pay machines).

miso - Bromley

10 East St, London BR1 1QX

We had a lovely family meal at Miso and if you're on a special diet then e-mail them and they'll send you a list of suitable dishes (they sent me a list of vegan choices).
The service was quick and the portions were HUGE! All very tasty too!
They did make a mistake with my meal but they sorted it out very quickly so it wasn't really a problem.
It was very cold in the restaurant the day we were there.

Thistle Hotel Middlesborough - Middlesbrough

Fry Street, Middlesbrough TS1 1JH

13-03-2010 (updated on 24-03-2010)

EDIT: I originally gave the Thistle Hotel two stars because I went to a special Murder Mystery evening and even though I'd told them well in advance about my dietary requirements (I'm vegan) they still had no meal for me! However after I wrote a complaint letter they invited me for a free meal to prove that it wasn't what usually happened there and it was lovely.

Julian Graves - Guisborough

10 Westgate, Guisborough TS14 6BA

18-02-2010

Julian Graves sells lots of different health foods but especially dried snacks like fruit, nuts etc. They don't have a very wide range and they're also not the cheapest but if you want a healthier snack then they're the place to go.
They also sell sweets but these really disappoint me as hardly any of them are vegetarian/vegan which you'd expect from this sort of shop.

Guisborough Bookshop - Guisborough

4 Chaloner Street, Guisborough TS14 6QD

18-02-2010

One of the best bookshops in the area! They have a wide range of fiction and non-fiction and often have book signings too. The staff are always more than happy to help you or just leave you to browse at your own leisure.

Holland & Barrett - Redcar

4 West Dyke Road, Redcar TS10 1DZ

18-02-2010

The staff are really friendly and helpful but the big thing that lets this shop down is that they removed their fridge and freezer section! This now means I can't buy any veggie sausage rolls while I'm out for the day in Redcar :( Plus I can't get any vegan ice-cream either.
But apart from that disappointment, they sell a good range of other things like dried fruit, snacks, alternative medicines and vitamins.

Marks & Spencer - Redcar

37 High Street, Redcar TS10 3BZ

This is a small M&S so they don't have a great range of stock. The back of the store is the food department and they have some of the basics plus some luxery foods. The clothing range in this shop is a bit poor and in my opinion a bit old fashioned. This M&S never seems to have the same sales on that other stores do.
