Poulton Road, Poulton-le-Fylde, Lancashire FY6 7NH
Fairly standard chain style pub, an Ember pub if I'm not mistaken. I visited on the occasion of a relative's funeral. The staff were courteous and the the buffet was very pleasant, they had cordoned an area of the pub off for us and we were well treated throughout. The pub is pleasantly decorated and spacious and I noticed various meal deals advertised such as steak nights, two pizzas for £8 on a Monday, two burgers for £10 on a Tuesday etc. They also have quiz nights on twice a week. There were some cask beers on but it was a little early in the day to partake so I can't comment on their quality, I also noticed that there seemed to be a good selection of wine available. I'd certainly pop in if I was passing by in the future, it seems like a pleasant enough pub.

Recently opened little sandwich shop in Poulton-le-fylde. There are many sandwich shops, cafes and bakeries in the small town of Poulton so business here is very competitive and this particular address has been through several hands in recent years and sadly none have lasted very long. So with this in mind I thought I'd give them a whirl. It has a fairly standard menu including sandwiches (barm or baton), salad boxes, breakfast baps, baked potatoes, soup, crisps, cakes and hot and cold drinks. Your sandwich is made fresh to order and all the ingredients are on display and all look very appealing. I had a chicken salad baton which was very pleasant but I did feel they were a bit ungenerous with the salad. *Update* I've been back several times since my initial review and must upgrade my review to 5 stars. The salad boxes in particular are lovely, a really good choice of items from the usual salad staples to pasta, couscous, rice, mixed beans, potato salad, coleslaw etc. etc. In fact if you ask for a bit of everything they are struggling to fit it all in the box! Lovely little shop, recommended.

5 Ball Street, Poulton-le-Fylde, Lancashire FY6 7BA
Long established sandwich shop in Poulton-le-Fylde. Strangely enough though today was the first time I've ever been inside. Good range of sandwiches including breakfast baps. They also do a 'breakfast box' which is 2 bacon, 2 sausage, egg, mushrooms, beans, tomato and 2 slices of toast which seemed like good value at £3.80. Paninis, jacket potatoes, soup and toasties (including cheese and pineapple!) round off the savoury side of the menu. Crisps, slices of cake, chocolate bars and yoghurts are available too as well as a range of hot and cold drinks. They deliver to local businesses and industrial estates as well as to the two large civil service sites nearby, Norcross and Warbreck Hill. Sandwich shops come and go in Poulton so the fact that this was has been around for so long would seem to suggest that it is doing something right. My chicken and salad baton was certainly very nice and good value too. Friendly staff serve you with a smile, great little shop!

Jacksters lol There aren’t many places left in Poulton that I haven’t Qyped it must be said! Except for the pubs, I haven’t been in any of them for years.

Market Hall, Poulton-le-Fylde, Lancashire FY6 7UR
Newly opened little deli in the Market Hall. A fairly limited range of stock but lovely stuff. Chutneys, pickles, jams, marmalades, mayonnaises and salad dressings as well as lots of sweet treats. Also a range of cheeses from local cheesemakers Dewlay, based at nearby Garstang, including my favourite Garstang Blue. Grandma Singletons cheeses too, so a good choice on the cheese front. As I've said on just about every review I've ever done of shops in the Market Hall, the turnover of businesses here is sadly really quick. I just hope this one manages to survive. We need little shops like this to give us variety and choice!

Newly opened card shop in the Market Hall. Huge selection of cards. Also sells all things birthday and gift related - wrapping paper, badges, banners, party invitation cards and more. Poulton has its fair share of card shops though, with two long established ones in the Teanlowe Centre as well as a W.H.Smiths. Card Crazy has a much larger selection than any of the others though and I'll probably come here first when I'm next looking to buy a card. All in all a smashing card shop!

I took my car here with a slow puncture. It was necessary to book ahead, which I did, and my car was instantly whisked into the service area to be attended to. The job took about 15 minutes and was very reasonably priced. There are a few chairs in the reception area for while you wait, it’s a little bit draughty and there’s no coffee machine or anything like that but that’s a very minor quibble. Excellent service, excellent price!

Smashing little village stores which crams an awful lot into a small space. An extensive alcohol section and a really good range of produce for such a small store. As well as all the usual things you would expect them to stock they also have such delights as Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding and excellent bread rolls which look (and taste) like they come from a small bakery. Cashpoint machine in store too which is convenient for a small village like Hambleton. Friendly lady proprietor passes the time of day, great little shop!

The Market Hall is a sort of mini mall with a cafe and various small shops and units. These include a sweet shop, deli, fishmonger, a small electricals shop, hairdresser’s, wool shop, ethnic clothing and candles, furniture retailer and more. Units come and go and seem to struggle to survive but there are a few well established businesses notably ’Darbyshire’s Electricals’, ‘Victorian Arts’ and the ‘Fish Plaice’. It’s certainly worth a stroll round if you’re visiting Poulton but it seems to struggle to compete with its bigger neighbour the ‘Teanlowe Centre’ which has more mainstream shops such as WH Smith’s, Sayers the Bakers etc. etc.

Retailer of reasonably priced spectacles. Just take along your prescription from your optician, choose your frames and Bob’s your uncle! There are lots of frames on display including many top designer names and also many accessories such as cases, cloths and spectacle chains. Optician’s do seem to be rather pricey for spectacles at times and this shop offers a good alternative. It’s spacious and bright and all in all a pleasant place to visit.

Smashing little sandwich shop, recently re-opened under new management, which makes your sandwich fresh to order. Usual range of breakfast baps and also lunchtime favourites such as chicken, beef and ham, with or without salad, on a choice of barm cake or baton. Also paninis, jacket potatoes, salad boxes, soup of the day and a couple of specials which were cheeseburger and also chilli and rice. Cans of pop and a chocolate bar or two rounds off the menu. The batons are really quite big and generously filled and could easily be shared between two really, very tasty too. Although the shop itself doesn’t look all that promising from the outside I’d recommend giving it a try. Update: upgraded my review from 4 stars to 5 stars after several visits. Friendly staff, excellent sandwiches. Highly recommended!
mclorie You just cant beat a freshly made bacon sarnie smothered in sauce – hmmmmmm!!!!

Jacksters Yes, you’re more likely to find me in a pub than a cafe Roger! ;-)
