We were so hungry and saw the backboard advertsing ‘Home cooked Food’ so decided to give it a try on Sunday afternoon
What a delightful little pub, well stocked bar and welcoming staff. We sat down with quite an extensive menu with additionsl specials written on wall boards.
We decided to skip the starter and just head for the main course, my patner ordered the Beef roast and I, due to a lack of much vegetarian options opted for the fish & chips. My partner actually commented that it was possibly the worst roast he’s ever had! My fish was that ‘frozen in batter’ fish that just gets tipped into the fat along with the frozen chips served with tinned garden peas…..not even mushy :( We didn’t stay for desert…just paid and left.
Such a charming pub with great staff but awful food…..I was expecting home made food but was disappointed.

Decided to give this place a try after driving past on many occasions.....glad I've tried now but in no particular rush to return.
It's a pub, that calls itself a gastro pub....which I don't believe it is.
We were seated very close to another couple, I sat on the cushioned bench against the wall....the armrest was hanging off :(
Got our stater of mixed breads and dips which was ok. The main course arrived, I ordered the potato rosti and wished I hadn't...it seemed as though the top has come off the salt pot when seasoning.....my partner had the cod which he enjoyed but was not raving about. With a few drinks this came to £40!
In a nut shell.......overseasoned and overpriced :(

Thought we’d give it a try as it was local and had recently reopened. Clean and homely inside, it felt comfortable. We arrived early evening and managed to get a table, lots of reserved signs around…..looked promising as it was only a Tuesday evening!
Ordered some cheesy garlic bread to share as a starter, my partner ordered the liver from the specials board while I ordered the 'crock of mussels marinara’ with bread & chips.
The cheesy garlic bread arrived….a half baguette from Iceland with some cheese shoved between each cut…...and still cold in the middle….oh dear, let’s hope the main course is good!
My partners liver was well presented and he said it was tasty. My crock of mussels was a smallish square bowl of overcooked tasteless mussels. The first four shells I picked up where cracked and broken…..though the landlady assured me they were not broken prior to cooking I wasn’t prepared to take that risk. The sauce was watery and quite bland for a marinara…...The food was well presented, chives on everything!! Certainly not value for money…..There’s far too many great eating pubs in the area for me to venture back there again.
