scotsdales - Great Shelford

cambridge road, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire CB22 5JT

26-11-2008

This is one of the best garden centres around. It stocks a really wide varierty of plants, shrubs and trees, as well as pots, water features and general garden things. They also sell cards and books. There is a pet section with toys and food for various animals. They actually sell rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, and parrots as well as various tropical and cold water fish. They have a really good Christmas shop at the moment with lovely displays. They sell fake Christmas trees and decorations. In the summer this area is filled with gazebos and outdoor furniture. It’s a great place to bring small children on a rainy day!

O'Neills Bar - Dublin

Suffolk Street, 2 Dublin

21-11-2008

This is a great pub with a good atmospshere right in the city centre. It is frequented by students, locals and tourists. It is a pretty big pub with loads of little alcoves and partitions so easy to find a quiet spot away from the masses if you wish. It does show sports and can be quite busy if there is a match on. The food is pretty decent. I would definitely recommend a pint or two here.

Waterstones - Dublin

7 Dawson Street, Dublin

21-11-2008

This is a really nice Waterstones. It feels quite spacious and is very nicely laid out. You can always find a quiet corner to sit down and browse through your chosen books. They have a very good academic section here which is handy for the Trinity students across the road. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly and always willing to help. They seem to stock everything I look for so I would recommend them.

easons - Dublin

40 lower o'connell street, Dublin

21-11-2008

Eason’s is one of the most well-known book shops in Dublin. It stocks a huge array of books, from the latest fiction novel to university textbooks and everything in between. It also has one of the best magazine aisles of any shop I’ve ever seen. You can browse hundreds of magazine titles. They also sell all the stationary you could ever need on the upper floor and CDs and music things are on the lower ground floor. If you’re looking for a bookshop with a difference this is the place to come as it has that unique bookshop feel to it although it is a large store.

Next - Cambridge

Cambridge

21-11-2008

Next has two stores in Cambridge, one in the Grafton Centre and one in the centre of town. They are both fairly large stores and stock women’s, men’s and children’s clothing as well as homeware. There is a lift in each store making it accessible for disabled shoppers and thise with children. They do tend to be very busy at the weekends and during sales and there are often queues for the changing rooms. There is a very good sale just after Christmas with great reductions. Next offer a full refund on items that are returned in unused condition within 30 days.

Parkside Pool - Cambridge

Cambridge, Cambridgeshire CB1 1NA

20-11-2008

Parkside is the biggest swimming pool in Cambridge. As well as the main pool it has two baby pools and a diving pool with an adjustable floor. It also has two water slides. There are baby swimming classes which are pretty good. The temperature of the pool is sometimes a bit on the cool side. The changing facilities are OK. They do have a disabled changing room and a few family rooms which have nappy changing facilities. IT has the Queen Anne carpark nearby which is handy although you do have to pay for parking.

Mothercare - Cambridge

26 Grafton Centre, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire CB1 1PS

20-11-2008

This Mothercare store is on the small side which is a shame. They do have a good range of buggies on view and have a reasonable maternity wear and baby/children’s wear section. The toy section can be a little diappointing and they never seem to have anything in stock. The staff are supposed to be knowledgable but are just young girls with no experience or idea of how any of the equipment works which is very frustrating. The feeding and changing facilities are one of the best in Cambridge.

The Orchard Tea Gardens - Grantchester

Orchard Ho 45 Mill Way, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire CB3 9ND

20-11-2008

This is a great place to come for a cup of tea and a slice of cake especially in summer. It is open all year round and is usually really busy in the summer. You can punt here from Cambridge although it does take about an hour each way but it is a beautiful journey along the river.

Early Learning Centre - Cambridge

Cambridge, Cambridgeshire CB1 1HW

20-11-2008

The early learning centre stocks toys for many different ages and all the toys are labelled with the suitable ages. They frequently offer 20% off discounts on toys. They also sell great childrens’ books. The staff tend to be quite knowledgeable and helpful. One downside is that the store is quite small and is always packed with people and buggies. Some of toys are not as good quality as they should be though. I have noticed a few things have buttons that are too stiff for little fingers to push which is diappointing.

Cineworld - Cambridge

Cambridge Leisure Park, Clifton Way, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire CB1 7DY

20-11-2008

This is just another multiplex cinema. There is nothing unique about it. It shows the latest blockbusters which is what it’s there for. It is easy to get to, there is plenty of parking nearby which is a bonus. There are loads of retaurants in the leisure park to chose from which is handy.
