Fine Burger Company - Islington

UPDATE: Having been contacted by Harry at FBK offering me a free meal if I would be prepared to give them another go, I visited last night with a friend and found things had improved significantly. Even factoring in the fact that we'd hardly expect bad service when they knew we were revisiting, we thought the service was friendly and much, much improved since we last visited.
The burgers in particular were very good - perfectly cooked and very tasty. The only complaint I'd have would be that I hate mustard, and despite there being no mention of it on the menu, my burger seemed to have a generous helping of it, which was a bit frustrating. The burger was good enough to just about compensate for that though.
Chips were again very good, even if one or two were a bit undercooked, but the onion rings still a little bit greasy for my taste, though I appreciate that the batter they fry them in probably necessitates this.
They still have a bit of a way to go before they've addressed all the issues that people have complained about on here, but they've definitely raised their game in the last couple of months and seem very responsive to feedback, which is a big improvement.
I'd be happy to visit again!

I can't think anything much more unprofessional than sitting in here finishing off our meal with music playing in the background, then to hear "Hi, this is Jonathan from Sporify...". Absolutely astonished that not only are they clearly not paying any royalties to the appropriate people, but that they're also so tight that they can't even stretch to paying a fiver a month to at least use the ad-free version of Spotify.
Food was average. Burger definitely wasn't medium rare (though I wasn't expecting it to be), chips were decent, onion rings a bit greasy. I might be old-fashioned, but I also like to have the chance to look at the menu before being abruptly asked what I'd like to drink before I'm even sitting down in my seat. The woman serving us was pretty bolshy and seemed quite annoyed that we'd had the cheek to come into the restaurant at about 3pm, when the staff clearly wanted to listen to their (occasionally ad-interrupted) music without having to actually serve any customers.
Definitely won't bother going back.
Oh, and if for some reason you decide you want to go here - don't pay the full menu prices - at least pick up a flyer from the guy standing opposite to get your burger half price.
elaine120745 Hello Graham
My husband & I were contemplating visiting you for the first time later this month as he is a "burger addict"
But...I am totally confused after reading so many conflicting reviews...do we/don't we, wiil we/won't we, should we/should'nt we??? Help Graham!!

Thought this was a great place to watch the football on a Monday night - packed full, plenty of huge screens on the ceiling and a great atmosphere. To be fair, there wasn't really anywhere to sit down, and I wouldn't come here otherwise, but it's one of the best in the area for watching a match.
PizzaExpress - South Bank

This is an absolutely soulless outpost of the Pizza Express brand, and I have to say that as soon as I set foot in here, I was tempted to leave. Feels more like a school canteen than somewhere you'd pay to dine out at, and the service wasn't much better.
I tend to avoid Pizza Express if I can help it as they've definitely gone downhill in the last 10 years or so, but I definitely won't be coming back to this one in particular any time soon.

Despite friends raving about the place, I was hugely disappointed. My ribs were tough, flavourless and dry, and the nachos weren't that much better. Maybe some of the other things on the menu would go down better after a few drinks, but I'll be doing my best to avoid returning, to be honest.

Really liked this one - a bit expensive, to be fair, but no complaints about the fact that Kirin Ichiban and Asahi were on the menu and had a really good night. One of those places where so much depends on who you're with, though. If you need a couple of drinks to get going, you should probably be prepared for a fairly expensive night!
sarahdrinkwater Very expensive but lots of fun - worth it for a party or birthday, I think?

Pretty good beer selection and a nice enough terrace right on the river outside. The atmosphere isn't fantastic and the food is very average. Probably nice enough for a drink in the summer though.

I was a bit disappointed to be honest, having heard all the hype and eventually getting around to visiting. The cupcakes were tasty, sure, but I really wasn't blown away. I much preferred Lola's, actually.

Very impressed with this one. Have only been once, but went for the afternoon tea (£28 for two, weekdays 3pm-6pm) which was extremely generous in size and absolutely delicious. Not the best dim sum I've ever had, but there's a great ambience and it was absolutely delicious. For the money, I don't think you can do much better in London.

A beautiful station which is infinitely better than the concrete monstrosity of Euston station down the road. Plenty of nice places to eat and drink while you're waiting for trains too.
There are very few stations that I would actually visit when I'm not waiting for a train, but this is one of them. It's also one of the only places in the area that's open beyond 10pm, so great if you're looking for a coffee when everything else is shut.

Very capable, but not my favourite. Service has been extremely good the few times I've been here, and I do like the ambience of the dining room itself, but sometimes I feel it lacks a little something. I'll definitely return, but there are other starred places in London that I prefer.
