I sent this email to Tesco Customer Services on 11 July 2009. To add insult to injury they offered to send me a £10 voucher. No Thank you... spend it on some staff training! We now shop at ASDA.

I have just arrived home at 1.45am still reeling from the most unpleasant shopping experience in my life.
Your Alfreton store is open 24 hrs per day. But only just!
On arriving at the till area I witnessed your operative screaming at some foreign speaking people that they were at the wrong till. They were totally bewildered and puzzled as to the problem.
Next it was my turn to be shouted at. Eventually I understood that she wanted me to go to till number eight. This I did and and she followed in due course. On arrival she began throwing my shopping about in a most unpleasant and offhand manner. She was clearly not interested in me and had even less interest in what she was doing.
I felt as if I was being a nuisance.
It was almost as if I was being slung out of the place.
On presenting her with a voucher I was given a loud tut and a big sigh. It was all just too much trouble for her.
My bill was almost £100. I expect to be treated with respect when I spend £100, in any store.
Never again will I subject myself to the likelihood of being treated this way again.
I will not be shopping at Tesco again and, by tomorrow evening, neither will my family or friends.
Tesco has lost somewhere between £1000 & £1500 per week due to your Alfreton operative.
If you are going to be open 24 hrs per day I suggest you train your people in Customer Care.
