Arthur Bales - Johannesburg
4th Avenue 64, Linden, Johannesburg
26-06-2008
This family-run business has served generations in Johannesburg since 1902. Its old-fashioned service combined with its up-to-date and wide choice of quality imported and local wool and yarns, Kaffe Fasset quilting fabrics and clothing fabrics, makes it THE place to shop if, like me, you are following the resurgence of hand-crafted trends in the USA, UK, Australia and Canada.
There’s yarn made from unusual sources such as bamboo and soya alongside beautiful imported wools from Rowan, Sirdar, Opal and Rosarios (to name only a few).
The in-store coffee shop is the place to meet up and Stitch ‘n Bitch a la Debbie Stoller, New York academic feminist and knitting and crochet author!
Unlike so many of these kinds of shops, the staff at Arthur Bales know what they are talking about.
NotAPublicKnitter I would love to join the Stich 'n Bitch group, do you have details &/or even experience of the group? Thank you for your informative review, A

Best vegetarian burgers from a fast food place that I’ve ever tasted in the USA, UK and SA. Also the yummiest chips!
