    river thai

River Thai restaurant is the latest to join 'The Broadway’ of eateries in Haywards Heath. It is fairly stylish, clean and comes with ample seating outside to people watch till your hearts content. It even has a canopy that is rolled out for when it rains which covers the outside seating area. The waiters are all polite and friendly and willing to takea group photo for you when asked!

They serve a great buffet for £6.50 which consists of a starter and main meal, although it does not compare to the american size portions, it is simply delicious…. and enough to leave you feeling satisfied at lunchtime and not too sleepy for your afternoon work.

I am a creature of habit and on the four times that I have visited, I have chosen the pork dumplings for a starter and prawn pad thai for my main course each time. Mmmmmmm.

    Well worth a visit.

I love Oliver Bonas shops, I can spend ages just looking around all their bits & pieces. Their goods are funky and contemporary. They sell unique gift ideas, fashion accessories, clothes, beauty cosmetics, home furnishings, novelty gifts and more!

The shop in Sheen always draws me in for a mooch around and the staff there are usually smiley and friendly. If you can't find one near you then you can always check out their online gift shop.

    Great little browsing shop!

    London Bridge Hotels

1pxt Kas last updated on 30-09-2007:

The London Bridge Hotel is a lovely, clean, friendly hotel with great all round facilities. It is located literally 2 minutes walk from London Bridge mainline station and local attractions include Tate Modern, Southwark Cathedral, London Dungeon and many more.

Having used it many times for training courses for work and numerous impromptu 'lobby' meetings, the service and standards never disappointed me. It isn't often that you find staff so helpful, polite and well presented, especially not in busy London so it is a delight to report that it ticked all the boxes for me - 10/10.

They have 5 varying sizes conference rooms. All reasonably priced and open to negotiation with the friendly Conference Manager, Susan. They offer excellent buffet menu options - again reasonably priced to suit your budget and set up in their day restaurant, which was next door to the conference rooms. Both conference rooms and restaurant are clean, modern and served by polite, friendly, well presented staff.

I have also eaten in their award winning 'Georgetown' colonian malaysian restaurant - which brings the varied and exquisite cuisines of the Malaysian Malays, Mandarin Chinese and Tamil Indians under one roof - all served in a regal house style with crystal cut glass and fine bone china.

The experience was rather grand and reminded me of my birthplace in Georgetown, Guyana!!
... grandness does come at a price though and whilst slightly expensive, it is worth it.

My praise doesn't stop there, it is also a great place to stay at. Whilst the room was small, it was brilliantly designed, which included white linen, contemporary matching quality furnishings, lovely soft clean dressing gowns, slippers, a modern, bright bathroom with power shower... and all the other trimmings!! The view was a little restricted from the window but we could still see a few london sights.

The only thing I did not get a chance to sample was the gym - I am afraid the longer lie in bed won me over, then it was on to the full english breakfast served in the room, then off to work, which was a 5 minute walk down the road in Borough High Street.

After my enjoyable stay, I arrived at work refreshed and on time!!

    SweatyBetty

1pxt Kas last updated on 25-09-2007:

SweatyBetty.... what a great name! This boutique is in trendy Richmond and within walking distance of the river with its cafes and bars.

The shop sells exercise gear for the active woman. Sweat AND look good!! Stock includes beachwear, yoga accessories, run wear, snow accessories, underwear, bags, books, DVD's, sweat assessories.

You can also buy Addidas - by Stella McCarthy - her designer range for running, winter wear and gym wear. Prices are reasonable.

The clothes are fashionable as well as functional, which isn't always achievable in my book. The reason is probably because they work with gym and yoga instructors, who act as their brand ambassadors and who 'test drive' their clothes.

This shop is clean and colourful and staff are friendly and on hand to help with sizes.

And even if you don't end up using the clothes for exercise......at least you will feel 'fit' wearing them!

    The Second Look

1pxt Kas last updated on 25-09-2007:

Now, I have to confess that I don't usually shop in second-hand clothes shops. Why is it that you always feel like you have to 'sneak' into one - just in case you are perceived as not being able to afford to buy new, or is that just me...... ??

However, I will make an exception for The Second Look shop in Sheen.

The shop sells lovely designer clothes, shoes, handbags and all manner of interesting accessories, and all at very reasonable prices considering they are designer brands. Their merchandise is in good condition, and the shop is laid out in such a way that makes it all very easy to look around (no sharp elbows needed here ladies!)

The staff are helpful and don't pounce on you when you enter, so you feel comfortable just browsing around and not pressured to buy anything. With this relaxed atmosphere you don't feel that you have to wait for the next person to come into the shop before you take your leave without purchasing.

The shop has also recently benefited from a refurbishment on the outside, so it now looks contemporary and not at all 'second-hand!!!

Well worth a visit for a quality designer bargain.
