Newhall Farm Inn - Cannock

Lichfield Road, Cannock, Staffordshire WS11 8NL

24-11-2008

This place is always packed when I go in - that I have only eaten here once. They do 2-4-1 meals. Service and quality of food is good. But nothing exceptional

Café Restaurant Ariel - Krakow

Szeroka 18, Kraków

24-11-2008

We went to Ariel for dinner on our first nite in Poland - and wow - we were surprised!!! Some of us had been a little concerned that we would not have the taste for Polish cuisine - but were we wrong!!!
The food we had was delicious. Our waiter was very friendly, and encouraged us to try all of the Polish names/pronunciations/social language.
Unfortunately, because we didn’t book - we had to make do with a table inside rather than in the beautiful gardens. So I suggest you do book (even if earlier that same day) - as the atmosphere outdoors is better than indoors!
It is one of the more expensive restaurants in the city - but well worth it!

Wieliczka Salt Mine - Krakow

Daniłowicza Street 10, Wieliczka, 32-020 Kraków

24-11-2008

This is an absolute must for anyone visiting this area of Poland. The mines are chilly but there is plenty of walking through them to keep the blood flowing.
We had a fantastic Polish (but English speaking) guide - who was very funny and had a real knowledge and interest in the subject of salt mines that all made it more interesting.
The huge chapel takes your breath away as you turn the corner to see the chandeliers, alters, and “paintings” carved into the salt.
You can take photos for a small charge - but the images will remain in your memory for a long time!
There aren’t many places to eat here - so you may wish to eat elsewhere/bring your own

Golden Orient - Stafford

Hurricane Court, Cresswell, Stafford, Staffordshire ST16 1GZ

10-11-2008

Scrummy food! There is a large selection of dishes to choose from - from starters, to mains, and puddings (including an ice-cream machine and a chocolate fountain). The food is always warm and tasty.
We have been here a number of times. Sometimes they are a little slow to replenish the more popular dishes (sweet and sour, etc.) - but if you ask, or wait for a few minutes, it is soon topped up!
The food and drinks are reasonably priced and the waiting staff are very polite and helpful!

Riaz Spice - Stafford

137 Newport Road, Stafford, Staffordshire ST16 2EZ

Very nice food and friendly waiting staff.

I have only been here once but we were treated well!

Reasonably priced food

Revolution Bar - Wolverhampton

10-12 Princess Street, Wolverhampton, West Midlands WV1 1HW

10-11-2008

Fun place… Interesting drinkies… But expensive

Casa - Stafford

1 Bridge Street, Stafford, Staffordshire ST16 2HJ

10-11-2008

The best of the few places open late in Stafford.
Drinkies are not too expensive.
The bouncers can be a bit funny with people who are wearing something that doesn’t “fit” or if you are a little worse-for-wear.
Play some good (older and modern) tunes to have a boogey to - although annoyingly, the DJ does not mix well at all!!!
Good mix of different people!

Flame - Edgbaston

Unit 17 Star City, 100 Watson Road Nechells, Birmingham, West Midlands B7 5SA

10-11-2008

I have been to this restaurant once, and it was a good experience. It is a chinese buffet. The food is yummy - and as an added twist, you can pick some raw food (meat and veggies) and the chef will cook it for you on a big hot plate while you watch!
Would definately go back again!

Showcase Cinema, Walsall - Walsall

Bentley Mill Way, Walsall, West Midlands WS2 0LE

10-11-2008

If you want a reasonably priced, no frills, cinema experience, then Showcase is definately the place to go!
Some of the chairs are wobbly, and there are no drinks holders on them - but if you want that, you need to pay a lot more for your tickets!
I go to a cinema to watch a film - which Showcase is perfect for. However, if you want an amazing nite, go somewhere else! (more costly!)

Saleem Bagh - Cannock

Queens Square, Cannock, Staffordshire WS11 1EA

10-11-2008

I cannot fault this place! We have been on a couple of occassions (usually birthdays/anniversaries/etc.) and have been very impressed during each visit.
The food is amazing and the service is great. There are some interesting and unique dishes on offer - that should definately be tried.
It is a little pricey - but strongly feel that you get what you pay for!
