Tai Wu Restaurant - Manchester
44 Oxford Street, Manchester, Greater Manchester M1 5EJ
29-11-2008
Great authentic chinese food which is rare these days. Opt for either the buffet adapted for European taste or the authentic cuisine on the ground floor, much of which makes it way around on trolleys a la Hong Kong. Thoroughly recommended and the price is good too, after applying one of their numerous discount offers!
Watershed Cinema - Bristol
1 Canons Road, Bristol BS1 5TX
29-11-2008
The cinema plays host to the Viva Spanish Film tour every year and shows some lesser know (ie. Non-Hollywood movies). The cinema auditorium is marvelous, plenty of leg room, spacious, clean and with super acoustics. The pricing is also in line with other more commercial cinemas. The Last movie I went to see included a short talk by someone who was fairly central to its production followed y someone from the University’s media/film society which was a bonus!
Gala Casino - Bristol
Explore Lane, Bristol BS1 5TY
29-11-2008
This Casino is mainly on the 4th floor and has it’s very own poker room and restaurant too. Soft drinks are free and every fortnight or so, they operate a small poker tournament open to all, which proves quite popular. In addition to roulette, blackjack and the usual games, there are numerous bandit machines, bingo and so forth. They also have a number of flat screens dotted about, they run a weekly salsa class which is free for members and they also have a monthly girls drink for free night. Bargain.
EAZI good night out for all, poker for the boys and free drinks for the girls, they also do salsa dancing if you get board of waiting for your partner to lose at poker.

Stanley Annabelle Casino - Bristol
2 Portwall Lane, Bristol BS1 6NB

Spread across 3 floors in what seems to be a converted house, this is the only casino that I’ve seen in Bristol which operates a MahJong section for enthusiasts! The Gaming area isn’t very big as they never seem to have sufficient numbers to warrant operating all the tables. Still, it’s quite a central location and you can always flick to and fro between this one and the Gala opposite.
Colosseum - Bristol
Redcliffe Hill, Bristol BS1 6SJ

A great place for a quiet night out. They have those minature pool tables in the back and during summer, a great balcony area (even though there isn’t much of a view over the small park below!). I believe Monday is also Biker’s night where there will inevitably be 15+ motorcycles parked out front and the helmets lined up along the front window. The price of a drink isn’t that expensive either.
Sublime Cafe - Bristol
31 King Street, Bristol BS1 4DZ

A really good bar for cocktails. Can be a bit expensive but if you hit happy hour, it’s worth the trouble All the seating is internal and the bar is divided in to two section but served by the same bar. There is occasionally live music from time to time and I’ve also noticed a playstation hooked up to a big screen… different? I think so!
Severn Shed - Bristol
Harbourside, The Grove, Bristol BS1 4RB
29-11-2008
This place is divided in to the dining area where you can go for a proper evening meal and a bar area with very comfortable seating. If you are ever here, you must absolutely try their cocktails. They take a life time to make and a moment to drink but they are worth it! Additionally, this place has its own external seating which looks out over the floating harbour too. Perfect.
Rileys American Pool & Snooker Club - Bristol
15 Queens Road, Bristol BS8 1QE
29-11-2008
Looking for a full size pool table that comes with the chalk, 2 pool cues (with nibs) and a full set of balls? Go to Riley’s, as there aren’t many other palces that can offer the same. The opening hours are what make this place special as I don’t think I’ve ever seen them closed. Membership can come as cheap as £5 for a year or if you pay a bit more, you might be able to get a free cue depending on the special offers available at the time. Paying for pool or snooker by the hour might not be cheaper than the £1 a game you get at your locals but the playing conditions are far better and hey, their food is probably just as good!
YO! sushi - Bristol
Unit SU72A Glass Walk, Cabot Circus, Bristol BS1 3BQ
29-11-2008
Japanese cuisine on hi-tech conveyor belts! This place is a god send! Here, you can see exactly what the food looks like in its final form before you pick it up and greedily munch it down. There is a whole variety of sushi on offer, rice, fish, octopus, pickled ginger, wasabi, and even some hot a la carte items. Just remember, if something look yummy, grab it quick before the conveyor belt takes it to someone elses plate! All the dishes are colour coded too which means you can keep track of all your spending to the pound!
Jesters Comedy Club - Bristol
135 - 137 Cheltenham Road, Bristol BS6 5RR
29-11-2008
The newest comedy venue on Cheltenham Road just north of the Galleries. The venue is superb with a small bar, stage at the far end and seating in between. There’s even a balcony area above, which I assume will be for those VIPS. Although not the easiest venue to find parking for, Jesters make up for this with the quality of the acts that come on to keep you entertained.
