This is the best sports centre I have ever been to, especially if you love the water.
There is a 50m swimming pool that has a movable floor so its can be made deeper or more shallow depending on the sessions. Theres the diving area too and also a fun pool seperate to the swimming pool which has a wave machine. Some of the lane swimming sessions are laned width ways so you are still only swimming 25ms per lap.
Theres a relaxation area with sun beds you can pay for a session on, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room etc.
There are several different changing rooms depending which facilities you are using.
Theres a wide range of activities on offer for adults and children and they also do childrens parties. They do membership plans for individuals and families too.
The sports centre does have a car park with some disabled spaces underneath the building and there is parking nearby too at castlegate. If you take your ticket to the reception you will get cheaper parking if you are using the facilities. Obviously shoppers and other people can use the parking facilities too but they are charged more.
The facilities are always clean and tidy and the stadd are helpful and polite.

fantastic budget hotel!!!
The rooms are quite small but very clean with a double bed (a 3rd bed in some rooms is a bunk that goes over the top of the double bed, I think an adult would struggle slightly but superb for children.) sockets, shower, sink, toilet, tv. There was 3 of us in our room and although the room was small, the 3 of us managed with out any problem.
The hotel on a whole was very clean and tidy and the staff were helpful. We opted for breakfast (nothing cooked) and there was a good selection of drinks too, not just tea and coffee.
The Sheffield Etap is well located for the arena, meadowhall and the stadium. Its close to the M1 motorway and the tram too. There’s also a car park which is nearly adequate, but not quite if the hotels fully booked.
The hotel tends to get very busy for sporting events, we stayed for the Sheffield 10K and it was very full. However, the car parking was the only small issue. We parked when we arrived, but having gone out for tea, when we came back we had to park on the road. There was plenty of room for everyone for breakfast though.
I’d say that this is an excellent hotel for a short stop over and works out cheaper than other budget hotels and would definately use again at Sheffield or at one of their other locations.

Centrally basis in Sheffiled the peace gardens are a lovely place to sit and relax and watch the world go buy.
The peace gardens are especially popular with children when the weathers warm in the summer and will run through and play in the fountains in the water. This has happened for at least the last 8/9 years that I know of and I’ve never seen anyone frowning upon it. Its not just toddlers either, its older children too. I’m sure its openly accepted and you even get a very slight smell of chlorene sometimes if its being well used.
There are small grassed areas at sides to sit upon and its always been clean and tidy in my experience.
It also looks pretty in the evenings when its lit up.

This is a beautiful spot not far from the centre of Sheffield and Sheffield Uni and Hallam’s Collegiate site.
Whether you just want to have a quick walk through or spend the day there lazing in the gardens, its idylic! The Botanical gardens have been enjoyed by young and old for years and hopefully will for many more to come. Its also a perfect place for a picnic, to read a book or revise for exams as its so peaceful, even when there are a lot of people about.
The two main points of entry are from Clarkhouse Road off Ecclesall Road opposite Tesco.
Theres usually an ice cream van on either the Clarkhouse Road or on the Ecclesall Road side, although the cafe inside the grounds also sells ice creams/lollies. There are toilets near the cafe and little gift shop at the Clarkhouse Road entry.

Walkabouts a good pub in a lovely building.
The live music/bands are always good and the drinks are cheap. Its nice and big so you’re not squished in and I’ve always thought its had a good atmosphere.

The City Hall is an excellent building and hosts a variety of events.
My favourite non alcohol related one would of course by my graduation, but have to been to different events there too and loved Hot Pants downstairs.
It makes an excellent host and the views from the balacony in the concert hall are great.
Don’t hesitate, just go!

Lovely pub on Ecclesall Road in the heart of the student community, but not soley a student pub.
Theres a beer garden with seating front and rear, a car park and the pub serves good food and drinks at good prices.
The staff are always polite and friendly and the pubs always clean.

I may be a little biased but this has to be one, if not overall, of my favourite pubs in Sheffield.
The staff are polite and helpful, the drinks, alcoholic and non alcoholic, are reasonably priced, the food is good and excellent value for money both from now a working mum and back when i was a students point of view.
The pub is in the heart of studentville (for both uni’s) but theres a wide mix of people who visit the pub.
The main reason I love this pub so much, apart from all the happy times Ive had there over the years, is due to the beer garden. Its not a little flagged area at the back of the pub, its huge for a pub in a city! Theres paved areas with tables so you can sit and drink and/or eat outside and then theres a large grassed area that you can sit on too.
Theres a good car park and the toilets are always clean with plenty of toilet roll too. Although I no longer live in Sheffield, its somewhere I always go back to when Im in the area and its definatley a family friendly pub with a good selection of food on offer and has a kids menu.
whether you want a quick snack, tea out, sunday dinner or the largest ice cream sundae ive ever seen, this is the pub for you.

The original Trafford Centre!
This shopping centre is by far the nicest Ive been to for many reasons. The walkway areas are larger than at the trafford centre so when its busy you arent being pushed around and get so frustrated with other shoppers as there is more room. Apart from the large chains at the trafford centre i find most of the individual shops to be quite small and so limited on stock and variety. This isn’t the case at Meadowhall and theres more variety of shop sizes so your fave shops are more likely to have the things you want in them.
Theres a food area with a good variety of food outlets and restaurants and a cinema. Theres adequate parking and access by bus train or tram.
Last but not least, the little stalls/shops in the lanes that unfortunately didnt last as well at the Trafford Centre.
