Terre A Terre - Brighton
71 East Street, Brighton BN1 1HQ
11-07-2009
Sitting down and reading the menu at Terre a Terre can feel overwhelming. The descriptions of the meals here could use a good, aggressive editing.
It’s an assault of foodie vocabulary and it can be difficult to discern the main ingredients from the accessory ones. Unfortunately, in some ways, the dishes themselves are equally cluttered.
I enjoyed a delicious soup starter, that was probably the simplest dish on the entire menu. My main course, which was a multi-component latke with various sauces, creams, salads and slaws alongside it, was unquestionably delicious, but a bit of an assault on my tastebuds (in a not entirely perfect way).
And my husband’s starter of corn-cake fritters with various salsas and guacamoles was equally complicated. Some people really love these complex, hundred-ingredient dishes, but in this case, I think it was really a step too far, and a bit off the mark.
I would have been happier with a somewhat simpler take on gourmet vegetarian, although my meal was delicious. And the chefs gets many brownie points for inventiveness and creativity. The restaurant is surprisingly large, and was very noisy the night we went.
While this gave it a really vibrant vibe, it’s not exactly a romantic or quiet place for dinner. A great dining experience, if an imperfect one.
Hyde Park - Kennington
Pro Cleaners London, 109 Elephant Rd, London SE17 1LB

I love Hyde Park. This beautiful park is an iconic part of London, and images of it will almost surely make it into any film based in London. You can take a guided walk through the park but I prefer to take long solo strolls. For a city this is as green as it gets. Its like walking through the woods but without having to get your shoes dirty. If London ever gets too hectic and you just need to clear your head Hyde Park is your salvation. You can rent a boat and paddle inside the Lido, take your skates and practice with other skaters, you can even rent a horse and gallop along the paths as they did in the 1800’s.
There are several stands where you can buy a coffee and a hot dog, or pop into the cafe by the Lido and feed the ducks. The Princess Diana Memorial Fountain, is definitely something to see, I recommend dipping your feed in the fountain on a hot summers day (not that we have many of those).
If you are brave enough and have no fear of the cold you can go swimming in the pond, or have a pick up football match. There are so many activities in this park! There is of course the infamous speakers corner, but I tend to stay away from politics when I am trying to clear my head in the park.
Gordons Wine Bar - Embankment
47 Villiers Street, Charing Cross, London WC2N 6NE
11-07-2009
Nothing beats a bottle of wine outside Gordon’s as the sun is setting, surrounded by some of your favourite people in the world. This is how I spent the first half of my evening yesterday and it was a great way to unwind after a long day at work. A few other people had the same idea. Yeah, just a few. Hundred.
The nooks and crannies of Gordon’s interior was all a hustle and bustle of winos and cheese fanatics, some who looked like they had been there for hours. An absolutely MUST VISIT in London for anyone who enjoys a bit of history with their vino.
Tic Toc Cafe - Brighton
53 Meeting House Laine, Brighton BN1 1HB

This place is too cute. The guy that runs it actually lives in London but commutes to Brighton to run this gem of a tea shop. With an array of super tasty cakes and delights its a perfect lunchtime or afternoon shopping stop off.
Not only fantastic home cooked food but there is free wifi. This place really couldn’t get more lovely. I’m glad I’m here all weekend I will totally be back again.
Urban Outfitters - Bristol
Lower Level, Cabot Circus, Bristol BS1 3BX

This is a large, good looking and fun store :)
Wide selection of different clothes and I love their funny games and accessories you can buy from them.
Reflections - Fishponds
16 Straits Parade, Fishponds, Bristol BS16 2LE

I had my hair cut and coloured here before Christmas and my general overview it’s OK; not the best but not the worst.
Nothing really wowed me about the whole experience, usually when I get my hair cut at other places I feel really happy and relaxed after I see the outcome but this time it was not the case.
I can’t really recommend this place and I am going to try another salon next time.
La Tasca - Bristol
The Glass House, Cabot Circus, Bristol BS1 3BX

Friendly Staff and Good Service; Most of the food there is nice and I always have sangria when I go there. I do find it a bit dark but in the summer it will be so nice to sit outside in Cabot Circus sipping on a sangria :)
