Great Location – First Class
Had a lovely stay at the Park Plaza, got it for a great price through Lastminute.
We arrived earlier than the check in time, however the receptionist said our room was ready and let us check in anyway, the room was really nice with a great city view, we also had a room upgrade thrown in with 2 bottles of wine, chocolates and mineral water plus fluffy dressing gowns and slippers – first class.
Definitely check in again

Gaudy and Garish with no Real Substance
I wasn’t impressed by the OTT décor of the place, it smacks you in the face on entry, however the river side view was lovely.
We didn’t have to wait long for a table and our waiter was helpful
and efficient, my starter of Cod Masala was delicious, a large piece of spicy
fish cooked to perfection.
My main course of Paneer with spinach was a real let down, it’s one of my favourite choices in Asian restaurant’s but this was by far the worst I’ve ever had – salty, overcooked, bland and the obviously tinned spinach was a strange grey colour that must have been first cooked days ago, my partners starter of spicy potato on Puri was terrible, potatoes are cheap yet there was barely a teaspoonful smeared on a very small piece of puri bread, very disappointing.
Need to up their game food wise and stop relying on the kitschy furnishings for good reviews

Not Your Typical Asian Restaurant
Hmmm can’t quite make my mind up about this restaurant, is it an Asian Restaurant? Is it a Cocktail Lounge? Or is it a Night club? If they were all together you could say its all these things but they’re not, (thankfully) they’re all seperate in the same large building, you can hear the DJ talking over the mic and playing dance music in the club above the restaurant.
We had a meal deal with free cocktails which were delicious, the food was just OK although quite small portion wise and I’m not a big eater.
Don’t think I’ll be visiting East Bar anytime in the near future.

Fab little Italian restaurant, the food is as good as any I’ve had in Italy.
Been twice for the Sunday lunch 3 course menu for £10 – I don’t know how they do it considering the food is all freshly made. I recommend the deep fried mozzarella with spicy tomato sauce or the Minestrone soup, it’s not like the heavy tomato based Minestrone you’re usually served in English restaurants, my main of haddock in lobster sauce was amazing, I don’t usually have dessert but decided to give the profiteroles a go – best I’ve had, gorgeous light puffs of choux pastry filled with cream and topped with Belgian chocolate, sounds like a basic profiterole I know, but these were outstanding.
The cameriere was very friendly and helpful and even though he was very busy, still found time to have a chat.
Theres also a board with daily specials which I intend to try on my next visit
Would Definitely Recommend

Good Wholesome Food
It’s usually pot luck when choosing somewhere to eat whilst on holiday, after a few bad choices we found this fantastic vegetarian restaurant, in the Gothic Quarter, my starter of hummus with pitta was delicious as was the goats cheese salad sprinkled with pomegranates and walnuts, even my bottle of San Miguel was an ecological beer.
If I’d found this place earlier on in the holiday I would have saved many bad choices of terrible Tapas and ate here instead.
2 starters, 2 main courses and 4 beers approx £25, which compared with other meals we'd had was very good value.

Fantastic Value for Money
After reading some very bad reviews about Hotel Ronda I was dreading staying there, however I was relieved to find a basic yet clean hotel where the staff were helpful and always greeted you with a smile.
The room was small but didn’t bother us as were out exploring Barcelona for most of the days and only came back occasionally for siesta and late at night for bed.
The bed was comfortable with fresh bedding, as were the towels, room servicing was available every day, complimentary shower gel/shampoo, soap and a comb were available in the bathroom, the toilet had a sticker across it informing the guest that it had been disinfected. The air con was a great bonus as Barcelona was reporting temperatures of 34 c
I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone who isn’t expecting a 5* hotel for 3* money, in my opinion you get more than you pay for.

Majestic
Beautiful old hotel, on entrance you’re greeted with a grand staircase and huge brightly lit chandeliers dominating the main reception.
We had booked Executive but were upgraded to the Superior room by the very helpful receptionist , I’d read other reviews mention the inefficient lift, this was not the case, we didn’t wait more than a minute for the lift to arrive and when we didn’t use the lift, the staircase were a pleasure to use.
The room was very elegant with a four poster bed; there was a separate lounge with a city view, the bathroom was clean with extras - a Jacuzzi bath and bidet.
Can’t comment on breakfast, although it was included in the price, we’d had a late dinner, will try it next time though as I will definitely be returning.
Ladylo Update
Fantastic Value – First Class Stay
I’ve stayed here once before with my partner and gave excellent reviews, on this visit I booked an Executive room for me and 2 children for a shopping weekend in Manchester, one teen and one younger. Our room was as fab as the last time, large bedroom area with 2 single beds and the large elevated lounge area also accommodated a single bed as well as 2 small armchairs coffee table and TV.
Crisp, clean bedding on the very comfortable beds made for a great nights’ sleep, the bathroom was clean, bright and spacious.
Tried breakfast this time, went down at 9am and was greeted warmly by the staff, I’m not a great fan of the full English, however my children are and helped themselves to the breakfast buffet which was full, all the food was fresh with good quality ingredients. I had Continental – freshly baked bread, hand carved ham, Gouda cheese and tomatoes, a pot of freshly ground coffee, were delicious.
Second visit, 2 different parties, both fantastic, can’t wait to return!

Chilli Lounge - Huddersfield

Has to be the best Indian restaurant in Huddersfield, the menu choices are a refreshing change to the typical Asian food most restaurants in the UK serve.
Our starters of spicy chickpeas and potatoes served in a rolled up puri was melt in the mouth delicious and mine of spicy haddock served on a sizzler plate with lots of spicy onions were the best I’ve had anywhere. The mains were just as delicious, the paratha bread was light and flaky.
The décor is light, modern and clean and the staff are very helpful. Would definitely recommend visiting the Chilli Lounge
Heard good reports about the buffet too – watch this space!
Ladylo Buffet Update – Disappointing
I was so impressed with the two course meal I’d had at the Chilli Lounge that I couldn’t wait to try the buffet that I’d heard so much about. One word sums it up for me – disappointing.
The choices of starters were; sliced fried potatoes and meat rolls which looked like spring rolls filled with mince. The mains choices were things like chicken on the bone curry, a lamb and spinach dish, Chicken Korma and chickpeas and paneer, rice and slices of naan bread, it was pretty low grade compared to the fantastic food I’d enjoyed from the a la carte menu I had last week.
Would recommend only if you have a ginormous appetite and aren’t too bothered over quality.
Will go again but only for the full menu

I was part of a party of 24, I’d heard from other people that it wasn’t very good but went with an open mind. We were greeted as we came in and given a menu straight away without being seated, which I thought a bit odd, however as not all the party had arrived yet I asked for a glass of dry white wine at the bar, I was informed by the owner they don’t sell much wine and all that was available was medium of which I was invited to taste, it was more medium sweet, similar to a dessert wine, I then spotted a bottle of Pinot Grigio which doesn’t have the best reputation in the wine world but it is typically dry so I can’t understand why I wasn’t offered this in the first place.
We had the early bird menu which is a starter, main and glass of wine for £10.95, the choices are very limited and considering they are advertised as being Italian weren’t very Italian at all, I opted for the Greek Meze which consisted of tzatziki, which tasted shop bought, olives and a chilli dip served with warm pitta bread, very uninspiring but edible. Again the mains choice was also very limited so I went for the creamy chicken pasta without the chicken, it was really nice, al dente pasta with a delicious creamy, slightly chilli tomato sauce, the portions size was enormous and I barely finished half, one of our party ordered the same as me but there’d been a mix up with the order and we had all finished our meal by the time she got her pasta which was disappointing.
The live keyboard player made for an enjoyable atmosphere and happily took requests.
I wouldn’t recommend for couples but it’s passable for a large party.

Served beef instead of lamb
Went on Friday evening, the surroundings and atmosphere are more café style rather than restaurant.
The staff and owner were very friendly. Poppadum’s and accompaniments plus a bottle of tap water are complimentary and are placed on the table as you are seated.
I noticed my partners starter of Tandoori Lamb looked a bit odd, when I tasted it I was horrified to find that he had been served chunks of stewing beef, which must have been boiled first to soften it, I didn’t want to make a fuss but still needed to point out the mistake (I’ve never in my life seen beef on an Indian menu) the owner came across and asked me how I knew the difference, I said it’s like asking someone the difference between fish and chicken.
There was no outcome to my complaint, however I believe the owner was tempted by the huge price difference and the hope no one will notice.
My starter of Tandoori Fish was tasteless as well as over fried to the point of it being hard and chewy, the rest of the meal was very average
Would only recommend if you enjoy cheap and cheerful (don’t order lamb) with the bonus of being able to bring your own alcohol -great for a large party
