Zumba Zone - Plymouth
Plymstock Plympton, Eggbuckland, Ivybridge, Plymouth PL1 1DZ
01-08-2010
Getting married in September and just having had a baby, I really needed to do something about getting in shape. I was thinking about joining a gym but have always found them boring. When my mother-in-law to be suggested Zumba, I was really nervous. I am really really self conscious and have no rhythm to speak of so wasn't looking forward to dancing around in front of strangers to be honest!
The reality couldn't have been more different, Claire makes everyone feel welcome and encourages you the whole way through, you really don't feel as though you are excercising for an hour. The energy and fun of the classes is unbelievable and Zumba really is addictive! Claire couldn't be better in my opinion and really puts you at ease. Would def recommend to anyone and everyone!
Wah Tin Chinese Restaurant - Plymouth
57-59 North Hill, Plymouth PL4 8HB
21-01-2009
(updated on 02-02-2009)
Easily accessible from most of Plymouth, the restaurant is situated on North Hill with plenty of parking very close. There are usually spaces on the road or there is a pay and display car park less than 100 metres up the road. This is an excellent Chinese restaurant. The lunch menu is an absolute bargain at only £6.25 for three courses and the staff are always friendly and helpful. They really make an effort to make ensure you enjoy your meal. The food is always served quickly and is always fresh, there is always plenty of it to go round as well! A lovely place to eat at very reasonable prices!
Mountbatten - Plymouth
7 Westway, Plymouth PL9 9RL

This is a lovely bar and restaurant in Plymstock which also serves as a hotel. The hotel serves food all day seven days a week and does a carvery on a sunday lunch. The main benefit of this bar and restaurant is the location, it is perfectly situated for a walk along Mountbatten pier and the surrounding areas of Jennycliff. The staff in the bar are always friendly and helpful and the food, although basically pub food is always of a good standard, fairly priced and generous in portion. Well worth a visit if only for a quick drink on the way to get an ice cream at the end of the breakwater, easily accessible from the Barbican as well as this is where the water taxi lands and departs.
Scope - Plymouth
76 Cornwall Street, Plymouth PL1 1LR

This is quite a nice charity shop in the centre of Plymouth. It is located close by to quite a few of the other charity shops so if you are on a shopping spree it is easy to pop in! They sell a good range of good including clothes for women, men and children. they have a good range of homware and bric a brac. They also sell a few ranges of new goods including very good value jewellery, handbags and some home wares and gift sets. The only downside of the store is that they used to have a whole room full of books at very good prices. This has now disappeared and has been replaced by a single bookshelf.
KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) - Plymouth
77 Union Street, Plymouth PL1 3LU
31-01-2009
This is a small Kentucky Fried Chicken in the city centre of Plymouth but away from the main bulk of the shops. The road the store is on is not a particularly nice place to be as it is very run down, the store has no seating area so you have to get food to take away. The store is open very late so it is popular with drinkers at the weekend. The store stocks the complete range of KFC products which are well priced. The staff are usually friendly and polite. The store is on a main road so there is nowhere really to park but you can usually get away with stopping on the road.
KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) - Plymouth
116 New George Street, Plymouth PL1 1RZ
31-01-2009
This is the largest Kentucky Fried Chicken in Plymouth as far as I aware and although it is situated in the quiter end of town it is always busy. The queueing system leaves a fair bit to be desired as the shop opening is only wide enough to allow one queue to form for all the tills in the store. The staff are not that interested in customer service and are usually found chatting amongst themselves rather than serving customers. The store offers the full range of products available and the food is fairly prices and usually of good choice, the only downside is that they do not sell anything which is suitable for vegetarians.
McDonald's Restaurants - Plymouth
Tavistock Road, Plymouth PL6 5DA
31-01-2009
This is quite a good McDonalds restaurant away from the city centre. It is mostly popular for the drive through rather than the restaurant which means you might have to wait a while for your food. The staff are usually polite but sometimes get the orders wrong. They offer the full range of the usual McDonalds products including breakfast. The store is open until quite late every day which is handy on the way back from a long journey. The restaurant is clean and tidy and the toilets are usually well looked after. Plenty of parking and easy to get to from most areas of the city.
Friary Mill Bakery - Plymouth
15 Gasking Street, Plymouth PL4 8DQ
31-01-2009
This is an excellent bakery which is situated almost in the centre of Plymouth. It is easily accessible and offers an amazing range of freshly cooked pasties, pies and savouries. The bakery sells a really good range of breakfast such as sausage baps, bacon rolls and the like, all at excellent prices. For lunch they sell a wide range of freshly made rolls and of course the usual range of pasties, pies and hot fresh soup with bread rolls. The cakes for sale are all freshly made and very well priced. Altogether this is an excellent bakery and well worth a visit if you are passing by!
Warrens - Plymouth
104 New George Street, Plymouth PL1 1RZ
31-01-2009
This is a very good local bakery in the city centre of Plymouth. Although the pasties are very flaky, they are well flavoured and worth a try. There are plenty of chunks of meat and the vegetables are well cooked. The shop offers a good range of baked goods including cakes, doughnuts, buns, freshly made sandwiches and rolls and obviously hot pasties and sausage rolls. The staff are always friendly and polite although they sometimes rush you to make a decision if the shop is busy. The food is reasonably priced and there are often special offers available on cakes.
Cafe Rouge - Plymouth
11 Whimple Street, Plymouth PL1 2DH
31-01-2009
Cafe Rouge is a lovely, friendly cafe and restaurant in the very centre of Plymouth. The cafe opens for breakfast, lunch and dinner and offers a variety of menus. There is quite a wide ranging main menu with plenty of choice including steaks, regional dishes, salads and baguettes. The staff and management are always well presented, friendly and happy to chat. The restaurant has a quite good wine list which is not too steeply priced. The restaurant is currently offering fixed price menus of two courses for £7.95 or three courses for £9.95. The food is fairly priced and there is a good children’s menu as well.
