My coffee tasted like stale Nescafé.

Very cute second-hand bookshop, new on the scene, with a good fiction section and some gems in other subjects too. Among the beautifully arranged stock you’ll find some new books too, all at half price or less.
As you browse the proprietor plays cool tunes from his laptop, and seems to be into poetry and chess. I think he only offers you free cake if you buy something.

Small shop with a carefully selected stock. You can be in and out in a jiffy if you know roughly what you’re looking for.
You get the feeling nothing stays on the shelf more than a couple of months. (If it achieves this, it’ll probably end up in the pound pile on the floor!)
The proprietor knows the second-hand book trade very well indeed, so can advise how to obtain what you want, and also whether books you want to get rid of are worth anything.

Large stock.
Some items are unpriced, and for that you have to wait until the proprietor is there – but he reliably sets a price that’s impossible to refuse!
There’s a half-price sale on everything till Xmas!
