Mick The Chips - Broseley
High Street, Clenchacre, Broseley, Shropshire TF12 5EU
22-01-2010
Sadly this old chip shop burnt down during 2009 and is still under review and reconstruction.
The other chip shop 'Broseley Fish bar' is still open and operating next door to the CO-OP petrol station and convenience shop on Ironbridge Road, Broseley
Royal Oak - Stourbridge
Halfpenny Green, Bobbington, Stourbridge, West Midlands DY7 5EJ
13-08-2009
This pub should not be listed under Stourbridge. Bobbington is a village in the Staffordshire countryside. The nearest main towns would be Wolverhampton, Bridgnorth and I suppose a smaller Stourbridge.
LA GOULETTE - Opera
1 rue Pavillon, 13001 Marseille
07-10-2008
Fast service, sensible prices and filling Algerian cooking. No alcohol but that is normal for this type of restaurant and you won’t need it!
Try the Couscous Maison - 1 kebab skewer, 1 spiced sausage, 1 meatball, 1 chop on top of a vegetable couscous bowl with a bowl of sauce and vegetables to accompany - 9.00 euros (in 2008) The food is always good and importantly filling for a tourist in the midst of a costly city.
Take your time and enjoy this north African part of Marseille as you sip mint tea or tea over pine nuts with an Algerian desert or two.
Its round the corner from Printemps supermarket and about 3 minutes walk from the Algerian market area.
Mad O'Rourke's - Wordsley
A491 High Street, Stourbridge, West Midlands DY8 4AZ
07-10-2008
An excellent place for great no fuss pie food and good beer, regular entertainment in evenings and weekends.
A Desperate Dan pie - 4lb in weight is about £8.99
If you can cope with real sawdust on the floor and some fun old brewing gear then you will cope with the comments and tips in the loo!
MND Sadly Mad O'Rourkes Wordsley has closed due to the economic slump, if you still want to try this style of dining then look up the original location in Tipton.

Heroes Health Club - Stourbridge
4-5 Lower High Street, Stourbridge, West Midlands DY8 1TE
09-09-2008
A deceptive place for men only…
It allways looks closed, the entrance to this health clu is located on the side of the building along an alleyway beside the ring road.
It’s clients are generally gay, bisexual and gay friendly men seeking the peaceful company of similar whilst enjoying the facilities of a steam room or sauna. Other facilities exist for the more adventurous male - see their website for further details.
Parking is available outside or across the ring road in an open air pay and display car park.
Popular times are hard to predict, but certainly an option for those rainy afternoons…
Duke Of William - Stourbridge
25 Coventry Street, Stourbridge, West Midlands DY8 1EP
09-09-2008
This pub is actually called 'The Duke William’ - it has recently changed hands and now is a gay managed and gay friendly venue. Though small in comparison to many modern day pubs and bars, its space is deceptive. A front bar lounge, with TV and music. The pub also features a pool room with a 'purple’ table! They are able to host parties by appointment but are required to manage and monitor sound levels due to the proximity of residential buildings. Its the only bar I have been offered a complimentary penguin bar to nibble and suck up my beer through! ;-)
Historically this pub has been known as a fighting venue, it now has bouncers on Friday and Saturday evenings, drinkng seems to be free and easy with no afternoon closure - it’s nice to have a quiet drink after lunch rather than a rushed pint before. It is ideally suited within a ten minute walk to both bus and branch line rail station for a drink and walk session.
Watch this space - more updates to follow.
Marseille Vieux Port - Saint-Victor
quai du Port, 13001 Marseille
27-08-2008
Marseille has reintroduced trams to the streets leaving many of the Boulevards now semi pedestrianised with underground parking. The old port area now has a little more space to walk, early mornings are best for the market stalls and regular fish stalls can be found near the ferry departure point for the Chateau D’If. It is possible to move around the restaurants and cafe’s on the harbour front to follow the sun from dawn till dusk, sipping Pastice and coffee accompanied by the appropriate meal of the hour.
With the re-invigoration of the cities main port the larger ferries and cruise liners now dock closer to the old port and are now within a 20 to 30 minute walk of this area.
It is possible to spend at least half a day exploring this area with its side streets and avenues leading off, and from here get transport connections to the islands, fishing trips, the beaches to the east, up hill to the church Notre Dam De La Garde, famous as the spiritual home for many sailors as they enter and leave port on long journeys.
