Chocolate chocolate chocolate! Anyone who knows me well, knows that I have a really bad chocolate addiction…one day I will need help. But until then, I wish I could satisfy my cravings every day with one of the Pijalnia apple pie hot chocolates. I swear to you, it is one of the best hot chocolates I’ve ever had - it has real pieces of stewed apple at the bottom which mixes in very nicely.
I mean, that has to be because this is one of Poland’s oldest chocolate makers, but there are quite a few cafes spread across Poland now.
My friends had the chilli chocolate and milk hot chocolates respectively and also enjoyed them immensly, but I refuse to put the photos up when I dropped a coffee praline and managed to get chocolate all over my hands - very sophisticated.
You can sit in the back in the restaurant or just grab some choccies to take away…with so much choice, you’re bound to return one day for more…I know I will be!

A good 10-15 minute walk from the station (with a heavy backpack), this hostel is on the outskirts of Hamburg’s city centre.
Although it’s clean and new, I didn’t find any of the staff helpful or friendly. Their baggage room is not locked and the internet prices are hefty for euros. You also had to pay extra for linen.
That being said, the rooms were clean with their own ensuites and they had swipe locks which, once they got mine working the second time, meant I could come and go easily.
I’d give this place another go if there wasn’t anywhere else available.

After the first night we found out that Zapiecek is a chain, but honestly, they do the yummiest pierogis 24 hours a day.
You can get meat filled or vegetarian dumplings, and they come on paper plates with plastic forks, but boy are they fantastic.
Hangover food or midday snack - my advice, go for it!

This is a really nice Jewish Polish restaurant in the Old Town of Warsaw.
It’s a little out of our league but as the cold winter night forced us to find anywhere along this expensive part of town, this was the most reasonable place.
That being said it was lovely. The meals were delicious and varied, and the service was excellent.
We didn’t leave a tip though because there was a high service charge already included.

If I didn’t get into the Escape Surf school, Reef was the second place recommended to me by some friends.
They have a great little surf shack and cafe right on the beach - follow the Cliff Rd behind The Barracuda Bar down to the Great Western Beach - and typically do two main classes a day.
Similarly, you can also do a weekend or weeklong course as well as accomodation deals.
