Porcus - Strasbourg Center

If you are tired of having sausage and cold cuts (charcuterie) then this is not your place. If you really want good charcuterie or a relaxing lunch with a menu fixe; this is your place. The plates average around 20 euros per person and are all made from high quality meat. All the sides are fresh and are of excellent quality to match the meal. I've been to many of the weinstubs in Strasbourg and I have tried similar dishes but the quality is not the same quality level of Porcus.
There is a delicatessen downstairs and the restaurant is upstairs. I would recommend reservations as it can be a problem with the downstairs staff not wanting to seat you. Once you are upstairs, you will have excellent service. The view is of the little courtyard in the square but it is peaceful and away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Their wine choices pair well with the food and there are recommendations. I've been a few times now and have enjoyed sausages, a plate of cold cuts and a rabbit terrine. If you find yourself looking for a good quiet lunch spot, I'd recommend Porcus.

If you are here for the Christmas Markets it is worth paying a visit to this little shop. Just stepping in you get all the delightful aromas of chocolate. The hot chocolate is worth a try to warm you up. We were not lucky our last trip in the summer to visit them because of summer vacations (August France is off). However, if you are here Jan-July and then September-Jan you will enjoy your find. Everything is made onsite and beautifully packaged. I saw many regulars come in for there special bars of chocolate. A small box would make a wonderful gift and is under 15 euros. A cup of hot chocolate is 4 euros but well worth the price. Drop in and enjoy! The owner is super nice!!!
Pressing des Vosges - Strasbourg Center

They were one of the few places open during the vacation month of August. They were especially helpful in getting things pressed and back to you within a reasonable amount of time. Nearly all the dry cleaners and tailors are gone so if you are searching for the open one in August - voila'! Everything came back neat and complete and was done onsite.
