Wagamama - Glasgow
97 West George Street, silverburn shopping centre, Glasgow, Scotland G2 1PB
01-06-2009
Wagamama is one of my favourite places to go for lunch during the week or weekend. Its food is always of a pretty good standard and the prices are pretty average. Staff are always friendly and will help you choose from the menu if you need it. If you want intimate dining, this isn’t the place for you.
Hampden Park - Glasgow
Glasgow, Scotland G42 9BA
01-06-2009
Hampden Park is the home of Scottish football located to the south of the city. It used to hold the largest football crowds in the world, however not today as it only holds around 55,000 people. The redeveloped Hampden often struggles to create much of an atmosphere, however on occasion it can be the best place in the world!
Glasgow Botanic Gardens - Glasgow
730 Great Western Road, Glasgow, Scotland G12 0TG
01-06-2009
The Botanic Gardens in Glasgow is located in the west end of the city on the corner of Great Western Road and Byres Road. The gardens are very well maintained and there a 2 or 3 large green house buildings where you can go and see plants from all over the world. Admission is free.
Museum of Transport - Glasgow
1 Bunhouse Road, Glasgow, Scotland G3 8DP
01-06-2009
This is a museum I haven’t been to for years as I have lived away from Glasgow for ages, but this is a place I remember going round when I was at school. This really does take you back in time with great examples of the old Glasgow buses and underground trains. You can climb aboard a few things too for a closer look. I believe a new transport museum
The Burrell Collection - Glasgow
Pollok Country Park, Glasgow, Scotland G1 1DD
01-06-2009
The Burrell Collection is an unbelievable place. I have not been in here in a number of years, but I believe it was one man’s collection that he donated to the city of Glasgow. There are loads of items to see and I especially liked the section covering ancient Egypt.
Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum - Glasgow
Argyle Street, Glasgow, Scotland G3 8AG
01-06-2009
Since its restoration was completed a couple of years ago, I have visited here a couple of time. The museum is pretty interesting and the architecture of the building is fantastic. I believe the building was built back to front and the architect threw himself off the top once it was completed
Ibrox stadium - Glasgow
150 Edminston Drive, Glasgow, Scotland G51 2XD
01-06-2009
This is a great stadium to go and watch a European game. The atmosphere in the ground can be fantastic even if the football isn’t always at its best. Food is pretty basic around the ground, although club deck has more choice. Decent transport with the underground and buses nearby.
IMAX - Glasgow
50 Pacific Quay, Glasgow, Scotland G51 1EA
01-06-2009
I went here a few weeks ago for the first time. While waiting to get into the screen I though the setup was a bit weird for a cinema as everyone had to wait a really long queue before being allowed in. The screen and sound however were fantastic. Really glad I went here despite the slightly more expensive tickets (£9 I think).
Ubiquitous Chip - Glasgow
12 Ashton Lane, Glasgow, Scotland G12 8SJ
01-06-2009
The Ubiquitous Chip is located on Ashton Lane in the west end of Glasgow. I really like this place. The food is usually very good and the ingredients I believe are usually locally sourced. There are a couple of rooms to eat in here, but I think the open main area is the best. Good food, good location.
The Hampton Hotel - Edinburgh
14 Corstorphine Road, Edinburgh, Scotland EH12 6HN
21-05-2009
The Hampton Hotel is a simple hotel near Roseburn and Murrayfield so if you’re staying in Edinburgh for a rugby weekend then for proximity to the stadium you can’t get much closer. It’s also only a 5 minute bus ride or 20 minute walk into the heart of Edinburgh. It’s simply furnished but has a good bar. The room we stayed in was pretty spacious too.
