I love this pub its the closest thing to my fav bar in Amsterdam and its my fav London bar its full of ghosts such as Bacon and I just love it, being an artist I feel comfortable being amongst fellow artists and actors its often busy but it keeps you warm. Those who poss find it snooty have made the mistake of bringing a camera or mobile and try and order a pint thats just a no no in this real classic arty vibe bar and its only polite to offer the bar staff a drink.. can’t wait to be there again..the Bretton cider is to die for along with the best salt beef sandwich. I want to be there right now…

My wife and I were made to feel like scum and made to feel it because we had been given a voucher from travelzoo and we dared to use it… From the moment my wife phoned to being seated it was rules relating to the voucher and what was and what was not included, I was told I had to have the house wine after some discussion I got the wine I preffered. So customer service 0 okay lets move unto the food the food that wasn’t excluded that is.. Starters my wife got 1 mushroom on her mushroom and leek tart and couldn’t taste any leek. I had the fishcakes that came in the shape of small croquettes with a sweet chilli dipping sauce these were okay but could have done with a little more seasoning. Mains I had the half roast chicken served with chips & side salad (veg or sides were excluded) whilst the chicken was very good it came covered in a herb dressing something not listed on the menu and I have to avoid bassil, the chips were more like crisps the salad was a bit dull. My wife had the Salmon on a bed of lentils ? this was very good. Dessert was sticky toffee pudding again good. but I was full by now and wanted to leave due to the fact we were on our 4th metion of the F**** voucher we got tea served in a pot though always a plus… then the final bit we got the bill £3.75 for the salad and £9.53 for the service we handed over £6 and left never to return again voucher or no voucher this was supposed to be a birthday treat it turned into a most uncomfortable ordeal I’ve never been made to feel so unwelcome… Oh PS don’t go on a Friday night if you want to talk and the closest thing to Scotland in the place apart from the most expensive whisky was my Scottish wife…

I’m sorry I hate to rubbish any new business esp’ a local independent but I could not disagree more with the reviews here. perhaps the 3 times I have been have been off days. I found my sandwich lacked any effort it was no better than the cheapest plastic boxed plain white bread sandwich you can get from a well known supermarket, only twice the price, & the dessert tasted like old thick custard on a flan base. and I didn’t find the staff as friendly as reviews suggest. 3 times unlucky ?? Even my father inlaw had to return stale carrot cake when visiting and was offerd an exchange not handy when trying to catch a train. He was eventually given a refund.

I personaly think there are much much better places in E17

My advice to Delice MUST DO BETTER

I’m worried that one day the buggy lot will kill this place and turn it into a mums & tots day care nursery like all the other pubs in E17 there are times when even parents want a break from kids, babies, nappies and baby talk !! When I go out for a quiet drink I don’t want to hear the crying sounds of little Oliver no matter how much he is only “expressing himself”… Thank god for a quite pub that’s not a smelly old mans pub or a nursery… Please keep this pub as it is and leave us quiet ones a place to rest and enjoy a drink with the papers…

eastendlass I would agree (hate the way everywhere feels they have to be kid-friendly these days)…except I’ve never known such a miserable bunch of bar staff. they put me off completely (even though I HAVE to go there to see a certain group of friends once a month).
