Lovely pub/restaurant adjacent to the canal. Ideal for sunny relaxed weekend or holiday lunch or evening meal. Child friendly with activities nearby, feeding the ducks by the canal is always popular, but just be careful of the water - it would be easy to fall in!
Ample parking, nice ride out for bikers or cyclists.

An old mill converted to a shopping mall with a difference. The top floor is Christmas decorations - great place to take the children in December. Unusual furniture and decor on middle and ground floors. Cafe on one floor. However, you have to pay to get in!

An old mill converted to a high class shopping market/mall. Unusual gifts and furniture. A sister company to Botany Bay which is similar. Only disadvantage is that you have to pay to get in but definitely worth a look especially if you're decorating your house.

Classy restuarant in the posher area of central Preston. Fresh local produce on the menu and a good choice. Not brillaint for vegetarians but still something for everyone. Parking not too bad and very easily accessible by bus, train and taxi. Not cheap but very reasonable and extremely good value for money. Great cocktail and wine list.

Ideal visit for all the family. Clitheroe is a lovely old town in the heart of gorgeous Lancashire countryside. The castle is in the middle of the town. PLenty of cafes and pubs in very easy walking distance. Parking easy in nearby car park. ( Museum may be under refurbishment ).
Near the Famous Pendle Hill.

Lovely wide sandly flat beaches. Southport beach has a little theme park like a mini blackpool. Ainsdale, slightly further South, is beautifully isolated with lovely sand dunes. Kiting and horseriding popular (although there are no facilities for trying these sports).
Great for long walks by the waves or playing cricket on the flat sand.
Red squirrels at nearby Fornby.

Great family fun day. Theme park and rides, plus farm animals, especially rare and local breeds. Not far from Chorley and Preston town centres so could easily be combined with a local pub or cafe meal for a good day out especially during the Summer holidays. Mostly outside so weather important!

Absolutely wonderful place. All sorts of wild birds to watch including flamingoes and swans. Educational and interesting for everyone especially those interested in conservation. Ideal for families but maybe not young very loud children! Could easily spend the majority of a day here. Cafe on the premises.

Learn to ski on this outside dry slope. Lessons and equipment hire available. Not that big but ideal for beginners.

Lovely park just south of Preston. Narrow guage railway operates some weekends. BlueBells spectaclar in April and May. Childrens play area. Cafe and small art and craft centre.
