Elephant & Castle Shopping Centre

Elephant & Castle shopping centre is one of those places you go to because you are in the area, not because you want to!
It’s easy to find, Elephant & Castle underground station on the Bakerloo / Northern line, take the shopping centre exit and walk up the ramp as you exit the station…....you’re there.
Don’t expect shops such as Fraser Hart, Debenhams or Subway. The majority of shops are high street chains like Woolworths (for as long as they exist now anyway), Tesco (metro) and other small privateers.
If you work in the immediate area and need to get some lunch or last minute shopping then you’ll probably find it here.
Xmas shopping it definately isn’t.

Situated on Corbetts Tey Road opposite Upminster Library and next door to the Crumpled Horn pub, HotShots is a traditional type barbers with a twist. Catering for men and boys the decor is a 'mans man’ paradise with signed photo’s and sporting memorabilia covering every wall. A huge plasma screen plays music channels at a respectable level, just a sight difficulty when there’s a particular video you want to see and having a hair cut at the same time.
The staff are prdominantly female which is not a problem as they are fantastic at the 'male orientated’ barbers culture.
The prices are very reasonable (£9.00 for a straight forward cut with no frills) and offer a whole range of the usual barbers services at competative prices.
It can get busy at weekends so be prepared to wait.

Harrods has a bit of a sooty reputation, although I have never experienced this whenever i have been there. Staff are always pretty helpful and very pleasant. I have even found some bargains in here - perfumes can be cheaper in here than in some well know perfume retail outlets.
Some people are under the impression that there is a dress code to enter the store, however, I dont think this is something the staff actively enforce. I am sure if the doorman doesnt like the look of you, they have the right to refuse entry, just like any other store in the country. Going in to the store wearing jeans seems perfectly acceptable though, plus the shop is over run with tourists wanting to take heaps of pics, and they are definitely not dressed to the nines!!

Uominster Pitch N Putt is situated on Hall Lane almost opposite Upminster Golf Course. It’s not the most professional or extinguished of looking places but offer ssome very good fun.
You can hire your clubs (iron and putter) with balls from the office (garden shed) icluding round cards for about £3.00 per person. If you have your own clubs then this course will probably be a little too easy for you but you can play with your own.
There’s 9 par 3 holes with varying difficulties that will give you good fun.
A good few hours whacking balls around!!

This is not the biggest department store you will ever visit & half of it has recently been sold off to make way for a new M&S store on Station Road. The products are not really cheap however the customer service is outstanding. The store has clothing departments (Men, Women & childrens clothing) electrical department & a seperate furniture store across the road. If you are not looking for a bargain, but appreciate good quality products & good service, you should give Roomes a go!
