Having been to the Thai Square in Islington and had a pleasant experience there, I booked a table for a group of us at this centrally located branch just off Regent Street. It’s quite a small restaurant and the place was empty when we arrived but almost full by the time we left. The food is decent tasty Thai food, as to be expected from this well established chain. Service was executed with smiles and grace even through some of my friends’ attempts at unfunny jokes with the waitresses. Our party of 7 were a bit cramped on the bench style seats and the waitress didn’t really have room to serve. The decor is a bit shabby, and not as nice as the Islington branch, hence only 3 stars.

This is a nice place to find decent Thai food. It won’t win any awards but it shouldn’t upset or offend either. The food is authentic and tasty, and the staff are welcoming and friendly. The interior is smart, well decorated and is one of the nicer interiors of the chain, much nicer than the one just off Regent Street which is a bit shabby. I’ve not tried it but there’s also a bar downstairs where you can carry on your night till 2am.

This has become a regular meeting place for me and my friends since we’re now all spread out around London and out of town. A great central location right by Oxford Circus tube, so it’s dead easy for real out-of-towners to find. Dark traditional interior with a nice dark red painted decorative ceiling which I suspect is original. We usually manage to get a seat if we hang around for a few drinks as a lot of people don’t seem to stay here long, using it as a pit stop after some shopping or a meeting place.

Great little restaurant that leaves me feeling like I’ve had a health boost. There aren’t many organic restaurants around never mind organic and vegan, and wheat-free and dairy-free and guilt-free and all bad things-free. I’ve eaten off the menu and from the counter and can’t decide which is better. It’s all so tasty. They have a great menu of vitamin packed smoothies and it explains what each one is good for. I was even able to have a lovely yummy chocolate cake during one of my detox diets! It’s chirpy cheap too!

A fish and chip shop very near Amersham tube/railway station. The frontage looks nice and modern and it seems to be the only fish and chip shop in central Amersham which is why we tried it. Never again. The fish was of the greasy-floppy-soggy kind and matched the greasy-floppy-soggy chips, which were way too overcooked and made me wonder if they were the twice-cooked type. Wouldn’t recommend.

If you are a fish lover then you will love this place. Some gorgeous fresh fish to be had here in comfortable surroundings. Part of the group that own the Ivy I believe, but it’s not so glamorous as it’s sister restaurant. We’ve been a few times for a pre-theatre dinner and service was swift and efficient. Maybe not so good to go at this time if you’re not going to the theatre judging by one of the reviews on here, but I would still recommend it for great fish anyway.

I love this little cinema. From the look of the outside I was expecting it to be, at least, a little tatty but the first time I went I was pleasantly surprised. It is charming, atmospheric and has nice clean comfy seats (yes, I was expecting much of the tattiness to be here but none to be found). I would definitely recommend this cinema if you like watching arty/foreign/independent films but there’s also lots for the mainstream cinema goer too. No two-for-one Orange Wednesday type deals here but lots of old school charm.

A popular place in Islington. I first sampled this pub during a rather sober and civilised early evening drink, and thought it was friendly with interesting people there. I’ve since experienced some not so sober and civilised nights there: it gets absolutely packed at weekends with music blasting upstairs and people dancing on tables. Good fun if you’re out for that, but don’t come at the weekend expecting a nice quiet affair as can be had at other times. There are tables out the front for people-watching on sunny days or the smokers on any cold, dark, damp day.

One of my favourite places to drink in Belsize Park. I’ve even spent a drunken new year’s eve in here. The food is decent, not quite gastro, but you can eat some good hearty nosh while sipping beer with your mates. Good decor - a bit grand actually. Can get a bit busy at weekends. Not good for parking (is anywhere in London?) but it’s only a short stagger to the tube.

I first tried this hairdressers back when a friend started sporting a “Hoxton”, you know, back when “Hoxton’s” were cool. I just had to ask him where he got his hair cut and it was Fish in Soho. So I went on the evidence of his impressive barnet. My experience back then and many visits since with different stylists was and have always been excellent. All the stylists are cool and trendy but look like they haven’t tried (you know the sort). It certainly made me trust that they know what looks good and what doesn’t. Prices match other “average” salons and are good for what I would call a “top” hairdressers.
