    Kublai Khan's

    Fabulous place.

OK, the decor’s a little bit cheesy but the food is tremendous and particularly good value if you happen to try the pre-theatre menu or the Mongolian Feast.

The feast is a light starter followed a buffet where you can make your own meal by filling a bowl with whatever fresh veg, rice, bean sprouts, or noodles (or tofu, if you really must).

Then you get to add whichever your least favourite exotic creature happens to be from a choice of meats such as beef, pork, lamb, chicken, venison, wild boar, ostrich, springbok, zebra, crocodile, kangaroo, or shark.

Finally, you get to make your own sauce using a variety of oils, herbs and spices before leaving your bowl with the chefs to toss and turn over the barbeque.

You can stay and watch this somewhat hypnotic display or go back to your table and decide which poor species is going to be the object of wrath next time you go for a refill.

Oh, and if it’s a friend’s birthday, let the restaurant know before you go…
