Candy Bar - Soho
4 Carlisle Street, Soho, London W1D 3BJ
29-01-2011
(updated on 20-04-2011)
Candy has been transformed in many ways since Ku bought it and put the emphasis back in it being a bar, for and run by girls. It's certainly a lot cooler than it used to be and they've finally got rid of the pink!
There's been a lot of effort spent on improving the place, from friendlier staff, better decor and loads more seating, but that's not the main thing - it's about putting on great nights for girls and making it accessible for all girls who want to meet others, or simply have fun with their friends.
The weekends have DJs playing a real mix of chart, R&B, dance and pop and then there's Wednesday's cool electro night EcLekTra. Sundays is a relaxed affair (apart from the bank holidays which have special events) where the cocktail offer of 2 for 1 is extended for a further 2 hours, from 4pm-8pm instead of the daily 4pm-6pm.
Membership is a must if you want cheap entry on paying nights (£3 each time) otherwise it's £5 after 9pm and free before 9pm. It's also free Sunday to Thursday.

Nice pizzas and a very good atmosphere.
Ruby Tuesdays @ Ku Bar - Leicester Square

(updated on 12-01-2010)
Ruby Tuesdays is Ku Bar's girls' night that runs every Tuesday night and it always packed full of girls, with guy guests, enjoying the atmosphere of a really friendly night with no attitude.
With Sandra D at the decks, the music is fun, loads of chart pop with some indie and choice r'n'b thrown in, and everybody is out to have a great time.
Entry is free with brilliant drinks offers (they start at a mere £1.50 for bottles of Carlsberg as well as house spirits and mixers) . There is also a chocolate fountain for those chocoholics to attack with strawberries and marchmallows to dip into but be warned, it disappears FAST!
So come see why it's known as the best girls night out in town for lesbians...
SanDav As of Tuesday 1st March, RUBY TUESDAYS will be taking over all 3 floors of Ku. It'll be the BIGGEST girl night out in town!

This is a brilliant place for clubbing and seeing bands. Always a good night to be had and a great place for alternative clubbing. Beats the norm anytime

If you love your music and wish there were a place to lose yourself in for a few hours, finding out new treasures... this is it. It's great for coffees, mags and, foremost, MUSIC. The in-store artists that play are by far the best. It really is a shop championing new music, as well as interesting music. Gastro - Clapham

Lovely food and very French. The staff and lovely (and French) and it’s got a lovely, rustic feel. I do tend to go for the 'old faithful” of steak and chips but they’re soo good. My friends are more adventurous and I’m annoying in always being that guest who wants what they’re having. Great little place this
Grand Union - Clapham

This is such a nice pub with one of the biggest beer gardens in London. I kid you not. It has about 4 little huts, or tree houses, a fire, loads of seating and then there’s the inside… cool decor and a brilliant place for hanging out with friends.
There’s loads of drinks on offer - cocktails, good beers and the food is typical pub grub and quite good it is too. Enjoy.

I’ve been to the one in Soho many a time and thought that it was about time I made it to this one closer to home. I had heard that it wasn’t as good but that’s a lie… there’s just not such a problem with getting a table because it’s not in central London - BLISS.
The food is just as good and the service faster. If you want top notch American BBQ meats then Bodean’s is definitely the place to head to. The burnt ends are delicious - but limited to only some days of the week. Try the ribs, or the meatloaf. All are brilliant for carnivores - just try not invite your veggie friends cos it’s a bit limited.
friendly society - Soho

This is such a friendly bar. From the staff to Maria who runs the place and knows virtually everyone in there. It’s very friendly - which is one of it’s main, great features - along with the dolls on the ceiling and other eccentric decoration delights
Royal George - Soho

If you want a proper local pub but in the heart of Soho, this is the place for you. The music is all alternative and the staff are a pretty friendly bunch. It’s also good to remember that it’s open until 1am on a Friday and Saturday night if you are in the need for late night drinking and don’t want to go clubbing.
