Penistone Paramount - Penistone

Taking a trip to Penistone Cimena is like stepping back in time - its an absolute gem! I haven’t been for a few years but although it’s small and old it beats the big multi-screen cinemas hands down, even if it;s only because its so quaint! Very cute, and there is a bar too - so you can’t go wrong really!
Hotel Ibis - Calais
Rue Greuze, 62100 Calais

We stayed at the hotel for one night in September. The staff were very friendly and helpful and spoke very good english. The room reminded me of University accomodation! It was very clean but not like a budget room in the UK - it really looked like someone had gone to a lot of effort to make it 'homely’! Our room was decorated with bright colours and we had little extras like a foot spa and candles!
On the down side we found the hotel quite hard to find, but when we had found it it was a very plesent experience, and good value for money.
Premier Travel Inn - Church Hougham
Folkestone Road, Dover, Kent CT15 7AB

Fantastic value for money, the room was large and clean, staff were helpful and polite, and the little 'pub’ next door was a very welcome site after a long drive!
The location was spot on and we would definetly stay here again.
P&O Ferries - Dover to Calais - Dover
Channel House, Channel View Road, Dover, Kent CT17 9TJ

We travelled from Dover to Calais (and back!) in September and the service was excellent. Check in (with our car) was very easy, and there was minimal waiting around. On board the ferry we found plenty of seating, decent shops and the food wasn’t bad either. Staff were helpful and friendly and the crossing ran perfectly to time.
We wouldn’t hesitate to use P & O again, they were excellent.
Dusk Till Dawn - Nottingham
Redfield Road, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire NG7 2UJ

Dusk Till Dawn is a poker club - but thats all there is! They have regular competitions (lowest buy in is about £50) and it’s a popular place with a bar and bar snacks (which are pretty over priced). I was really looking forward to visitiing when it opened but it really didn’t live up to my expectations. A group of us went down to play in a tournement and shared a car - a word of warning - if you get knocked out and you’re waiting for someone else there is absolutely nothing else to do, so take a good book!
The other issue here is that the rake on cash games is really high which put us off staying longer.
Over all its a great idea but it’s in a very strange location, so if your not playing poker there is just nothing else to do. If it were in a city centre I’m sure it would do better. It seemed busy enough when we were there, but I wonder how many people will make a return trip?
Alea casino - Leeds
4 The Boulevard, Clarence Dock, Home of the Royal Armouries,, Leeds, West Yorkshire LS10 1PZ

A real dissapointment I’m afraid, the building itself is lovely but the gaming experience is awful. The music is always way too loud, and the entire building just seems to be full of young drunk people who believe the hype and think it’s the 'place to be seen’. Maybe if you’re a 21 year old student, but not for anyone else! The staff are miserable and unhelpful, and the slots are all on a different floor to everything else, so if you like to play the slots you don’t really feel 'included’. Not worth a return visit I’m afraid.
A casino without soul!!!
Napoleons Casino - Leeds
2 Bingley Street, Leeds, West Yorkshire LS3 1LX

A 'proper’ casino with lots of character- not like the other big corporate casinos in Leeds. Great resturant (really good value), fantastic poker comps (on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays), friendly staff and a real 'casino’ feel - definetly the best casino in Leeds, if not Yorkshire.
Gala Casino Bradford - Bradford
Vicar Lane, Bradford, West Yorkshire BD1 5LD

This is a big casino with not much happening! When ever we have been it’s always soooooo quiet! You can sit all evening waiting for it to get busy and it just never does! However, I’ve always found the staff to be pleasent (though quite often quite clearly bored, bless em!) and the last time I went I won quite a bit - so I can’t say too much against them!
It’s a shame that it’s so lacking in atmosphere as you get the impression that they do try, but if you’re looking for a fun and buzzing place for a night out then try some where else, because this place isn’t for you!
Paris Las Vegas - Las Vegas
Las Vegas Blvd 3655, 89109 Las Vegas

A lovely hotel in a great location, juyst opposite the Bellagio fountains. We didn’t stay there but would certainly consider it for the future!
The casino was nice, and there was a nice little card room too. The staff were friendly and helpful.
There are some lovely little shops in the Paris, I did find them a little over priced but they were fun to look around!
McCarran International Airport - Las Vegas
5757 Wayne Newton Boulevard, 89119 Las Vegas

When we first arrived in veas we thought we’d gone back in time to the 80s!!! The airport is really, really dated and we spend the hour or so waiting to get through passport control (it takes ages as they take finger prints etc) hoping vegas wouldn’t all look like that! Dispite the wait the security staff were all friendly and as it’s such a small airport finding our luggage etc wasn’t any trouble at all. It was a relief to get the the Bellagio and find out not all of vegas is stuck in the 80s though!!!
Coming home was fine too, again the staff were really nice and they upgraded up too, so we got to fly home in luxury which was a real treat and the perfect end to our amazing holiday!
