Thie place is so named because they used to have a little cafe on nelson road. Then they took over this place as well. And it’s really hard to see how they’ve messed it up so royally.
The other cafe was swish, and had yummy cake and nice food. This place is shoddy, looks horrible, has surly staff and no decent food. They’ve got two black boards that are half empty, so as a menu it’s pretty uninspiring.
Everything about the place is uninspiring. My latte was nothing to write home about, the ham and cheese croissant wasn’t that good, the staff couldn’t care less.
The thing that really gets me? This is the best spot in Greenwich. Smack bang in the middle of Greenwich Indoor market (and it’s the only cafe with seating here). They appear to be resting on their laurels and relying on passing trade. Which seems to be working at the moment, but I’ve lived here a long time, and I’m guessing the cafe will have another name by the end of the year. There’s a lot more shops in the area serving coffee as well as selling their wares. Greenwich is known for being a pretty foodie place, this place isn’t worth the trip.
Such a shame.

I feel a bit bad for this pub. I spend a lot of time in the area, but The Lamb at the bottom of the road is such an excellent pub (not least since I discovered their tiny beer garden), I always end up in there.
But last Thursday, my website had a shopping event in Something over the road. After a while the place got full and people slipped out onto the street. And after they’d spilled out onto the street, they ended up in the pub. And what a great night it was!
Th girls drank their way through the bar’s mojitos in the space of three hours. The lovely outside bit is great (but they stop you taking drinks outside from ten) and the staff are friendly. It does get busy so they can be a bit slow,. I’d love to tell you how much the drinks were, but it was my event so I didn’t actually buy any :-) my friends are very nice.
Not sure if I’d choose this place over The Lamb, but if there was a table outside that was free (a rarity I imagine) I might well be tempted.

This place is excellent, but it isn’t a cut and dry five stars. I’ll explain.
I’ve never had a pedicure before, so honestly I wasn’t sure what to expect. But I’m impressed. My tootsies are all soft and bright pink and sparkly and exactly what you’d want from a pedicure.
The lady was nice, and they’ve got a half price offer on at the moment which means my treatment was £!3.50. I think anyone who knows beauty salons will agree that that’s a bargain. Even £27 at full price is a bargain.
So I’m thrilled to find such a great place near me, but it’s not a five star place. Even with the garden out the back.
The staff are nice, it’s very pleasant, but it doesn’t wow you. The magazines are two months old, and honestly, it’s a bit tatty around the edges. But there’s a reason the place is as cheap as it is. And if I’m only paying £13.50 for a treatment, I can deal with stuff like that.
I love it here, and they’ve won themselves a new customer. But if you’re expecting something fancy, this isn’t the place for you. If you want a great treatment, for a great price, you’ve found yourself a great little haven.

I didn’t get to spend much time in Wintergarten which was such a shame. For some reason I thought I’d arrive at Berlin’s most popular eaterie bang on lunchtime. Not very clever of me. :-(
But, I did get to see how pretty the gardens are. They’re just of the Kurfustendamm (fogive me if that’s spelt wrong), the main shopping street in Berlin. It’s lovely to have a little tiny oasis away from busy streets. It’s so secluded here. Wish I’d been able to stay.
They do have a restaurant inside, but it was too sunny and I wanted to be out playing. I did find a perfect people watching spot to have my lunch, but not before a trip into the little bookshop to buy some presents and postcards. Great little place.
If you’re hear for a while, book a table, otherwise, it might be better not to try and get a table between 12 and 1. Silly me.

On a whim a couple of months ago, when i couldn’t get Faith No More tickets for Brixton, I bought some for the gig in Berlin instead. As you do.
As it turned out, it was the best thing I’ve ever done. This venue is fantastic. Great stage, great sound, brilliant seating with a perfect view of the stage (I’ve injured my foot, so that’s where I should have been, of course I was in the crowd moshing away).
What struck me was the friendliness. Everyone is friendly. You know when you go to an outdoor gig in the UK and the queue for the bar is a mile long? It doesn’t happen here. They don’t care about the drinking. They’ve also got a nifty little system where you pay a deposit for the glass. That’ll stop you throwing them about the place. Very clever.
I have no idea what this place is used for in Winter, but if you get the chance to go hear, do. Not just to see wonderful aging rockbands, but to see anyone. Best gig I’ve ever been to.

Not a bad hotel. Granted, it was across the other side of the city from where we actually needed to be, but a Top Secret Hotel deal meant we got our room for £25 a night.
The staff are friendly, they let me check in early, they looked after us. But that was as far as the service went really. The internet wasn’t to pricey, although it does still royally piss my off that you have to pay for internet anywhere these days.
The downsides? Well we actually wanted a twin room (something that seems not to exist in Berlin), but we had to book a double. Instead, we get two singles pushed together (complete with two different duvets.
Now, this suited us just fine but if we were a couple, not just travelling buddies, I’d feel a bit short-changed.
We’re now thinking about opening a hotel with a new room called “platonic double”. It could well catch on over here.
There’s another Park Inn right in Alexanderplatz. Wish we’d been there instead. If you’re being touristy, and you don’t mind the weird double/single bed situation, that might be a better option.

It’s such a shame this branch isn’t brilliant, because this is my favourite homewares shop in the whole world.
As editor of an interior and style blog (look! a shameless plug - http://www.domesticsluttery.com/ ), I have to force myself not to write about this shop everyday. But most of the time, I buy online, even though there’s a branch just down the road from me.
This branch is teeny, it doesn’t open on Tuesdays and the stuff they have in there just isn’t looked after. There’s a screen in the window that’s covered in dirt. It looks horrible. Shopping in here isn’t fun. But the worst thing? Graham and Green is a really good brand. And that comes at a price too. Remember when The Pier shut down and everywhere was a bit of a mess? This shop looks like that. Not impressive.
I’ll stick to buying online from now one, but I can’t see this branch lasting much longer. I love Graham and Green, but the other shops in Greenwich are too good, this one kinda lets the side down.

The whole point of hotels like this is that they’re meant to feel exclusive, not just expensive.
But this place doesn’t. It’s a nice place, but on a Friday night when the place is packed and they let us walk in without a second thought, the place kind of looses its edge.
It’s the first time I’ve been here, and after we arrived, I wasn’t that impressed any more. So we left and went over the road to Bourne and Hollingsworth instead.
There’s nothing wrong with the place, but if it’s not exclusive, it’s just expensive.

I really enjoyed my dinner here on Saturday. But a word of warning:
The restaurant is a twenty minute walk from Notting Hill Gate.
Why is that important? Well the Jubillee line was down. I live in South East London. I got to dinner twnety minutes late, and had to leave before coffee and dessert because they didn’t take our dessert order for ages.
But the rest of the food was yummy :-) I had sea bass and pasta and everyone had all sorts of yummy things. There was a point where we were silent for ten minutes because we were all eating such tasty food.
My Sea Bass? £12.50. Very tasty indeed.
I like it here, but you’ve either got to get here early at the weekend, or come when they’re less busy. If you don’t live in the area it’s a bit of a trek. Great food, but I would have liked to have been able to stick around for dessert.

I want to like this place, but I don’t feel like it’s really settled into the area yet. The stage looks brilliant though, so as a music venue I’m quite excited by it.
But, we went after work, so there was no music. And it wasn’t excellent to be honest.
They don’t have a cocktail menu, but they insisted they could make anything that we asked for. If you’re going to say that, you really should know your cocktails. And you should not make a margarita with vodka. They do a good mojito though.
The food was a little better than average. We got a mix of starters to share. Great shrimp, with a stunning hot sauce. But the crab cakes were nothing to shout about. That said, I’ve had toothache all week and it was the first real meal I’d eaten so I thought it was yummy at the time. Four starter things cost us £20.
The seating area outside is pretty nice, and it’s still pretty quiet early evening so you can get a seat - it’s air conditioned too.
I’m looking forward to coming back and watching some good bands, but until then, they stay on three stars.
