I didn’t have the best experience with this pizza hut and as a result I have only ordered pizza from there once.
When I called to place my order I waited a long time for someone to pick up the phone, when they did they put me on hold automatically. I find this really frustrating and would rather be left ringing than be paying to be on hold.
After taking me off of hold the person on the other end of the phone mumbled something that sounded like can I take your order but I can’t be sure because their phone manner was awful. You couldn’t hear a word they were saying. They did get clearer during the conversation which was a relief because asking them to repeat everything was getting annoying.
I ordered my food and an hour and a half later I had it. If I had known how long delivery would take I would have picked it up as it would have been quicker.
The pizza itself was pretty good and it was warm but it was not worth waiting for that amount of time.

I really like this post office. Compared to many of the post offices I’ve been to in London it’s quite small and doesn’t have a huge amount of stock. It does sell some envelopes and stationary but doesn’t have nearly as much choice as many post offices do. The only reason I’m not giving this post office five stars is because of the lack of choice in stationary.
The services they do offer are excellent. They are of course the same as other post offices but where you might have to queue for half an hour in other London post offices in this one you rarely queue for longer than five minutes.
The staff are friendly and helpful and always willing to have a chat when it’s not too busy.
There is a seperate desk to buy lottery and stamps.
I’ve always found the postman who collects the post at the end of the day to be really friendly and helpful too. He always accepts whatever post you give him with a smile and will wait for you if you’re just getting a stamp to put on the letter.

If I had to describe this spar in one word it would be expensive. Although they have a good amount of stock and they open longer than most places they make you pay for it! The only time I ever really go here is when everywhere else is closed.
My main objection to this shop is the price but I also find that it’s just too crowded. The aisles are really narrow and they try to pack as much into it as possible, which has it’s advantages because you can always find what you’re looking for but at the same time it makes it quite unpleasant to shop there.
The staff are polite enough but aren’t overly friendly.

Before moving to East Finchley I never really shopped in Iceland but it really is the best option when you’re living in this area. THe only other supermarket in East Finchley is ridiculously over priced so if you want food at a reasonable price this is the place to go.
Although the majority of the food is frozen they do sell fresh fruit and vegetables, the selection isn’t as good as other places but you can get the basics. They also sell some refrigerated food and other essentials liking washing up liquid.
The best thing about Iceland is that it’s so cheap and there are always special offers on. The downside to this particular iceland is that the staff are quite rude and they usually only have one till open which means you sometimes queue for a long time.
This wouldn’t be my first choice of places to shop if there were other supermarkets around but it is the best option in East Finchley in my opinion.

I really like this library. It’s very conveniently located for me and for many of the residents of East Finchley on the High Road. I’ve always thought that the building looks exactly how a library should look-very old and historic! I think it gives a good feeling for learning.
Inside the library doesn’t take up a huge amount of the building and is actually qutie small, although they do have a seperate room for computers and children which I think is a really nice touch.
The selection of books is pretty good and ordering books from other libraries is relatively cheap and doesn’t take too much time.
I’ve always found the staff there to be really friendly and while not always the most helpful of people it’s not from lack of trying. Sometimes it feels as though they don’t know their product quite as well as they should but they’re so polite and friendly that it’s difficult to fault them for it.

This post office is very conveniently located which has the bonus of being easy to get to but the draw back of always being really busy. If you’re lucky you only have to queue up for ten minutes but generally if you go at a convenient time (lunch time or after work) you’re looking at a queue that goes out of the door and a wait of at least half an hour.
When you finally get to the counter you may be lucky enough to get a friendly face and helpful person but you’re just as likely to get someone surly and unhelpful.
If you’re just getting stamps then there is a seperate place to buy them and there is also a seperate queue if you want something travel related.
It’s not a bad post office when you consider how many people go in there every day but if I have a choice of going to that one or another one I will generally pick another one.

I’ve bought a couple of pairs of shoes in here in recent months and was really pleased with the service I recieved.
I thought that the shop was very well laid out. Shoes are at the front of the shop and are split into women and mens’ shoes. I can’t say much about the section for men but the womens’ section was really well labelled. It was clear which shoes were by which designer without having to look in the shoe. Prices were clearly labelled on all items.
They also had a section with bags and accessories where again everything was well labelled.
I found the staff to be polite for the most part but at one point they were too busy chatting to notice that I was waiting for one of them to serve me.
I had to take one pair of shoes back for a refund because they were faulty and the staff were both polite and helpful and able to offer me advice about what shoes might be a good replacement.

I personally really like this waterstones. It’s not the biggest of book shops but I think the size is just right. It’s on two floors, both of decent sizes and has a good range of books.
I’ve had problems in the past getting certain books from there because they don’t stock that many books compared to the bigger waterstones shops but you can always order them in and the staff are always very helpful. Unfortunately it’s often quicker to order the books from amazon or on waterstones website than it is to order them in the shop.
I think the shop is pretty comfortable, with chairs throughout for you to sit on while you read.
They don’t have a cafe like most waterstones do these days which is unfortunate and they don’t stock that many of the extra’s that other waterstones do, like calendars and games (they do stock them but not a great variety).
Every time I go in there they have stock waiting to shelved which I find a little bit off putting.

This has to be one of the best hotels that I’ve ever stayed at.
The location of this hotel is wonderful. It’s situated close enough to talk to the town centre in half an hour, with good bus services but it’s far enough away to be away from the noise. Although it’s on a main road you would never know it from inside the hotel. The grounds are beautiful and block out the road, it’s quiet inside and the hotel itself is really nice and luxurious.
I thought that the leisure club was good for the most part, with a nice pool and well equipped gym but the changing rooms were a bit grotty.
The bedrooms were clean and comfortable. The restaurant was nice and comfortable, the staff were helpful and friendly and the food was great.
However, I thought the service at the bar left a lot to be desired. The staff here were very friendly and polite but I was standing at the bar for fifteen minutes before anyone came over to serve me. The person working on the bar appeared to be working in the restaurant at the same time.

Old Town Library is quite possibly the smallest library I have ever used! Due to it’s small size there is a limit to the number of books that are available and being so close to the central library (which is just down the hill from this one) you’re better off walking down there.
It only opens three days every week so for me that’s not often enough for me to really use it (especially as it doesn’t open at the weekend).
However, although this library is pretty useless to me I think it’s really important for those living in old town who have mobility problems. They can order books from other libraries if necessary and I’ve always found the people who work there to be pleasant and helpful.
