A friend recommended Fika to me. I found it to be a refreshing change from the artificial curry houses on Brick Lane, and other restaurants i’ve been to lately.
Inspirationjunkie has described this place quite well, so without stepping on her podium, i just want to add that i tried the Plankstek (sirlion steak served on an oak plank with grilled mash potato, bernaise sauce and a divine relish - this is there speciality), and although it may be percieved as a gimmick, it is actually very delicious. It arrived hot, exactly as i asked, and the meat had a nice taste to it. Price wise, it was the most expensive on the menu, but when compared to other, more expensive steak places i’ve been to (reviews to come), it’s works out good value for money. My girlfriend had the salmon served on the plank (i’ve forgotten the Swedish name for it), i didn’t try it, but she enjoyed it.
Also, i find customer service can be the deciding factor on whether i like a place or not, and my girlfriend and i felt very welcome. We loved it!
My only comment would be that its not the most visible of places. I don’t mind this at all, but i almost walked past it!
