The Grainary - Farm Stay Bed & Breakfast and Country Tea Rooms - Scarborough

The Grainary Keasbeck Hill Farm, Harwood Dale, Scarborough, North Yorkshire YO13 0DT

01-09-2012

Just had three days at The Grainery with my 86 year old mother. Ground floor room excellent for someone with limited mobility, great accessible bathroom, external door so can get to car quickly and easily. Had bed and breakfast and evening meal. Room spotless, liked touches like the torch in the bedside drawer.Pleasant residents lounge. Great choice on the menu always a salad, a veggie option, fish and meat, lovely starters and desserts too. Enjoyed the farm, great working dogs, Blue and Bess, lovely walks and I saw a kingfisher by the bottom lake. So quiet at night, a real country hideaway and yet so close to Scarborough and Whitby. What was noticeable was the number of return visitors both older couples and families, especially grandparents with children, which must be a good thing. Plenty for children to do with both indoor and outdoor play areas, all this on a working farm too. Lynda and John very charming and hard working hosts.
Very good value for money, comfortable and homely.
As a keen gardener the  only disappointment was the plants for sale which needed better presentation and care, otherwise a super, relaxing holiday with great tea and cakes too, try the Coffee cake it's to die for!
