Good beer and nice atmosphere. However, the prices of drinks is very high indeed and perhaps this is reflected in the number of people that drink there now. It’s a great place with potential but nothing changes and people seem to have moved on. I guess it could do with some invigoration, perhaps live music or something exciting to bring the punters in.

I used to get pizzas from here all the time, you really couldn’t beat the hot & spicy!

However, perhaps their pockets are empty and they can’t afford proper ingredients any more as the cheese they use now is like eating molten plastic. I binned the last pizza I had from there.

However, the prices are very good and if they start using proper cheese, I’d definately go back,

I’ve stayed in this hotel for 2 weeks now and the second week was only due to lack of rooms in other places. The food is below average and the rooms are clean but there are several problems.

Firstly, the seagulls will wake you up at about 5am every morning!

Secondly, and this is the real reason I’m never staying here again… The hotel offers free wifi. Great right? Well no. It doesn’t work (I work in IT so I know it’s not my equipment) I reported it not working the first week to be told “Oh, nobody has complained about it before, I’ll get someone to have a look.” However, when I reported it AGAIN the following week (to the same person) I was told “Oh, nobody else has complained about it not working, I’ll get our IT to look at it”

So yes, I’m highly suspicious that the wifi actually exists at all and they are telling porkies about getting it fixed!

Possibly the best steak in the North East?

They cook their steaks on a super heated stone at your table to perfection. While the chef does that he talks to you and that is half the fun.

If you love your steak, this place is a must.

Have taken dates here as the food is always excellent and interesting. The only real downside is the cost, it can be very expensive.

It's a lovely walk on a sunny afternoon, not too difficult so it's suitable for all fitness levels. I know a previous reviewer commented on dog waste but I've never seen any so perhaps that was a bad day or they have cleaned up their act.

I visited here for my birthday with a fairly large group of friends and, while tapas is not my preferred option, the food was excellent as was the service. It's a great place to come with friends, tapas really helps conversation flow, especially when the food is this good.

It's been a few months since I've been here simply because the standard of food and service has degraded over the last couple of years.

It used to be excellent but I would now class it as average at best.

I've been to countless comedy gigs here and it's the perfect venue. Not too big and it can be quite intimate. The prices are excellent and you can get to see sosome really big names for very little money if you keep your eyes on the schedule and book up quick.

The only bad thing is the bar, the quality of the draught lager is not so good.

Having eaten here a few times I can say that the food is always excellent and the staff are super friendly. Add to that an excellent wine list and some good ales and you have a very good, high class country pub.

From what I hear, the hotel rooms are also very good.
