Xpu-Ha Palace - Cancún

Cancún

15-11-2008

The resort is exquisitely beautiful, so well-maintained, like living in a jungle of flowers, trees, plants and animals with 5-star service. Wonderful lovely people work there, everyone says yes no matter what you ask or need--they will do their best for you and they are so nice. It is quiet, intimate and everyone gets to know you. There is so much to explore, families with three and four generations come together and all find fun, relaxtion, good food, and activity or no activity depending on what you prefer. The 2-story huts are like living in a tree-house with all the amenities of the best hotel. The pool is fabulous. The beach is not yet completely restored. There is a nice beach sitting/sunning area with palapas for shade but to swim you need to walk down the shore a bit to the neighboring beach to enter the water. We visited several of the other Palace hotels and had no trouble with the exchange privileges but we came back to Xpu-Ha even more happy that we stayed there.

Royal Mayan resort - Cancún

Cancún

15-11-2008

My family and I stayed at the Royal Mayan from 6/29 to 7/5 and did not want to leave. The place is spotless, the beach and pool are definitely deserving of the hype we saw on the internet in photos. White sand, green waters, etc. The wonderful staff, concer., bell boys, personal maids, laundry attendents etc were were truly professionals and friendly people. The access to other Royal Resorts added so much more for all resident-visitors. We will definitely return!

Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach - Cancún

I researched Cancun hotels alot before I booked this hotel, and I am so glad that I did! It was amazing! The beach and pool are exactly what the pictures look like online. Absolutely gorgeous! I could’ve spent our whole vacation at the hotel!

We didn’t do the all-inclusive, but there are so many restaurants within walking distance of the hotel that we were glad that we didn’t. The location is perfect for walking to restaurants and shopping areas or it’s just a short cab drive away.

The service was perfect. Guest services helped us find restaurants within our price range and made reservations for us and looked up our flights when we were leaving. They were very helpful!

Everything was very clean.. there were always people cleaning the beach and pool area so it was always perfect looking. The best beach around too! We walked to the surrounding hotels pools and they were all very rocky. The pool and beach area were never packed either.. there was plenty of room to move around without feeling crowded.

Aventura Palace - Cancún

Cancún

My wife and I went for our one year anniversary. The resort was beautiful and was everything that I expected in that regard. It was very well maintained, and the views were gorgeous.

The drinks were good. The food was pretty good…but the menus never change. The desserts are not very sweet, though. If you have ever been on a cruise…..the food at Aventura is not even close to being as good as on a cruise.

I would recommend becoming somewhat fluent in basic spanish, as the wait-staff had trouble understanding special requests. Many had difficulty if you requested your meal prepared differently than on the menu…. it would be delivered as the menu stated.

In addition, we had an incident with the room attendant not paying attention to the DO NOT DISTURB, but all in all, it was a nice place.

Ritz Carlton - Cancún

Cancún

If I were to die and go to Heaven I beleive it would be the Ritz waiting for me at the pearly gates. I just adore this hotel and the staff. They treat you like family and welcome you with open arms each time you return. I will be going there in July and it just cant come fast enough. If you do go to the Ritz (fly not run) I highly recommend you stay on the Club level. Service above Service. Ask for Mildred. She is wonderful and has your vacation at heart and will make it the best.

Moon Palace Golf and Spa - Cancún

We stayed there from 8/16/08 - 8/23/08. We had an excellent time. Apparently, this was off season for them because the hotel was not crowded. I had read all the reviews before going. The staff could not do enough for us. We only asked for more towels in the room one day and from then on they supplied us with lots of towels. They also did a turn down service in the evening. The pools were always kept clean and we could never figure out when they cleaned them, but they were always clean. I will make one suggestion. When you arrive, book your excursions right away. Like I said, it was off season for them and the excursions still got booked up for the times we wanted. I agree with some that the food was just okay. It wasn’t terrible, but just okay. They had many restaurants, but after awhile you started feeling like you were eating the same thing. I think that is any hotel from what I hear. A lot of people complained that the beach was not attractive at all. They would be correct on that. It is filled with seaweed, but you are allowed to visit all the Palace Resorts with free transporation. Beach Palace has a beautiful beach. There were so many other things to do at the resort that we didn’t really care. You could do the waverunners and parasailing right at the hotel. The hotel is huge and there is a lot of walking, but what we realized after two days was that there are several shortcuts to the lobby and everywhere else. Once we mastered them, there wasn’t a problem. The pools and service there was wonderful. Another tip: DON’T DO THE TIME SHARE SEMINAR. It isn’t worth it. Not to mention they claim it is only 90 minutues long. It was 3 hours. That is the only regret I have was doing that. Not the hotel’s fault though. The beautiful spa at the golf center is unbelievable. You will love this hotel!! The pools and swim up bar is so wonderful and beautiful.

New York New York - Las Vegas

Wouldn’r recommend this hotel..to many other nice hotels at the same price. When we arrived and were told prior to arriving to check in at VIP, when attemping to check in I was told sorry VIP is closed..basically go wait with everyone else….ok no problem. Then they didn’t have the rooms we booked available. Finally got settled in and went to play on the tables, the asian dealer asked my son for ID which he provided then she threw it back at him and landed on the carpet….totally rude so we didn’t gamble at the hotel for the 7 days that we were thier. Good luck trying to find a chair at the pool if u don’t get their by 8:00 am..they have this massive hotel with one tiny pool and a roller coaster zipping around over your head. I called management to express my concerns regarding are stay considering it wasn’t a cheap holiday. I spoke with the director of the hotel and she basically told me she would address my concerns with staff…no offer of come back and we will try to get are act together….I thought we might get a comp dinner or show to take the sour taste out of are mouths, but nothing.

I understand things go wrong but… when you save and only have one holiday a year and it’s not cheap u except it to be better…special in Vegas.

Luxor Hotel - Las Vegas

Trilogy Dr 3537, 89169 Las Vegas

15-11-2008

We just returned from a long weekend in Las Vegas and stayed at the Luxor. The hotel has by far the best design and layout of all on the strip, but the actual guest rooms were a disappointment. We found the beds to be extremely hard and could feel springs poking through. The pillows were flat as pancakes and the beds are not dressed with a fitted sheet so if you move at all you’ll find yourself sleeping on the bare mattress.
We were startled to find that the fitness center onsite is not included in your stay, but is $10 per day per user. No thanks.
The food at the breakfast buffet was wonderful; however, on Saturdays and Sundays the price increases $6 per person because mimosas are included. You cannot choose non-alcoholic breakfast as we found out once we reached the front of the line. The woman at the register was rather sarcastic when we asked and told us to read the sign (which listed both rates). She made sure to tell us that the mimosa is complimentary. Since when does extra $ for something mean it’s complimentary? Whatever, we went elsewhere.
The other heads-up I’d like to share is to not waste time or money seeing the Criss Angel show. You only see about five magic tricks and the rest of the two hours is filled up with people performing a poorly choreographed dance routine in strange costumes.
We had a wonderful time on our trip, but wanted to share our experience to help others decide where to stay. Enjoy!

The ridge - Maidstone

This course is different gravy. I was playing with the pro and on the third he hit an iron of the tee and then holed his second shot, any good hey. The course is in great condition and this is to thank the greenstaff, i have played there a lot but never has the course been this good. Also the service was great and if you are looking for a good round of golf then you should come and play here.

Barcelona Catedral Hotel - Ciutat Vella

Capellans, 4 C, Ciutat Vella, 08002 Barcelona

Nice hotel, good location but not a 4 star hotel
The best thing about the hotel is without doubt the location - near the Cathedral, old town, gothic area and Ramblas. It is not a 4 star hotel as rated, more like 3 star. Room was too small although very comfortable. Pool was not clean. Breakfast was good regarding quantity and choice but a little overpriced. Generally acceptable but again a little expensive for the real rating of the hotel, ie 3 star not 4 star.
