Hôtel Bellevue-Plage - La Baule
27 Blvd de l'Océan, 44500 La Baule
01-02-2010
6 Rue Balzac, 75008 Paris
15-01-2010
The hotel is beautiful, red velvet decor and the Parisian history is displayed on the walls, perfect service, but the room (even the double rooms) are a bit small, ouch! Great location though, it is great to wake up and to walk to the Champs elysees just a few seconds later...
Café Honoré - Neighborhood Nature
46 R de Cléry, 75002 Paris
20-01-2009
The Café Honoré is the ideal place to lunch leisurely. No need to worry about the price at 13 euros for the lunch set menu of starter/main course or main course/ dessert, not to mention the whole menu, there is choice. It’s equally useless to fear a lack of flavour: everything is home-made, renewed regularly and it’s delicious! There is always a choice between a meat and a fish dish on the menu of the day and you can enjoy yourself regularly trying out new dishes. To add to all that, there’s a friendly staff, quick service, a more than nice area (Rue Montorgueil is two steps away through a pedestrian street to the surrounding area)... Try it, you’ll come back!
Hôtel Bellevue-Plage - La Baule

Right in the middle of the bay, decorated in a careful manner far from “seaside” clichés… The rooms on the fifth floor benefit from a terrace with an unrestricted view over the whole bay, from Pouliguen to Pornichet. Ideal for jogging first thing in the morning, the niniches at hand (avenue de Gaulle is 5 minutes away), catamaran classes in a bathrobe, or simply to daydream to the sound of waves…
Chez Takeo - Le Marais
39 R de Bretagne, Marché des Enfants-Rouges, 75003 Paris
02-01-2009
May all those who like Japanese food, the true kaiseki-style, eat at Chez Takeo at least once. They will stand in a queue, trying to decipher the menu, attempting to understand the servers or the chef, all Japanese, waiting for a place to become free at the tables arranged outside the market and will eventually have the pleasure of eating their meal. The least curious, the most blasé, those who love the Japanese spirit the least will have left the party long ago, everyone else will be delighted, will tell their friends about it and will come back.
Naniwa-Ya - Palais Royal
11, rue Sainte-Anne, métro Pyramides, 75001 Paris
15-12-2008
This Japanese restaurant is a Parisian benchmark. Do you want sushi? Go somewhere else. Here you eat what the Japanese eat in everyday life: ramen, donburi, chicken croquettes, deep-fried tofu; in a space that couldn’t be any more Japanese: it’s small, the best seats are at the bar and the orders are shouted to the chef. There is even takoyaki! These little fritters containing a piece of octopus, the pride of Kansai (the Osaka/ Kyoto region)...
In short, this restaurant, it’s like home, and furthermore it’s very affordable, with all-in menus (except drinks) at lunchtime and a supplementary menu in the evening for a more varied choice.
Le Georges - Beaubourg
19 rue Beaubourg, en haut du centre georges pompidou, 75004 Paris
11-12-2008
Le Georges is without doubt one of the luckiest restaurants in Paris: at the top of the Pompidou Centre, you tower over Paris and the slightest ray of sunshine gives you the impression of being the king of the world. With its minimalist steel décor, its vases garnishing every table (including those on the terrace) and its menu which is just what it should be (short, classic and original), you come here with complete confidence. The service is equal to the location; whether it’s for a romantic meal, a drink at the bar that livens up an evening or a business lunch, there is always a good reason to go to Le Georges.
Hôtel Portinari - Rio de Janeiro
Rua Francisco Sá 17, Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro
11-12-2008
Attractive hotel perfectly situated (between Copacabana and Ipanema). The designer rooms are the dearest, but they are generally worth it (beach view!). Not exactly the cheapest but the service is excellent and breakfast of mangoes, melons and other exotic fruits on the 11th floor terrace is priceless.
Le Paris Paris - Palais Royal
5 Av de l'opéra, 75009 Paris
11-12-2008
The fashionable club since it opened in 2005! Whatever happens you will rarely get bored inside. You do need to come with patience (tough door policy) and with style (otherwise be prepared for getting looks once inside). Despite their rather “me-me” attitude, the people are cool.
Le Crabe Fantôme - Brussels
Av du bois de la cambre 17C, 1170 Bruxelles
30-11-2008
A mix of French and Thai dishes, the menu at the Crabe Fantôme offers the best of both worlds at a reasonable price. The layout is really lovely, at the end of a spacious garden, which must be beautiful to sit out in in summer (big tables available). The restaurant itself is nicely decorated marine style with lots of oiled wood, scale models and paintings…Shame that they don’t try and combine the culinary influences of both countries together…
