Went for pre film drink. First pint if the usually exceptional coniston bluebird had turned maybe end of barrel but I feature had just been on the bar to long. Had it replaced for a cloudy speckled hen. I don’t mind paying the new higher prices for eke as long as its good. This wasn’t.

Amazing place. Unique beer and pager selection. The place for first and last beer in London when arriving or leaving by train from the north.

Brilliant but a smallish (4) but amazing ale range. Breton rough cidte. London 7.2% IPA. Relaxed staff.quirky front room sort of feel. Not everyone’s bag but definitely mine. Will be back again and again.

Classic little pub. Good ales. Nowt fancy but nice. Loads of old nautical paraphanalia which must have been there for years. Friendly and welcoming which makes a pleasant change for morecambe.

No longer exists. It’s now “swank”. That’s its name not rhyming slang. Although…..

Wetherspoons can be a bit hit and miss. This one is generally more miss than hit. They are a “does what is says on the can” pub chain. cheap and reasonably clean, but here you have to wait too long at the bar too often and the beers are usually, but not consistantly, ok. Plenty of other very good places near by which are a bit pricier but you know the ale will be good and the customers a little less like they are straight out of that star wars bar.

The Gatehouse Restaurant - Lancaster

Gatehouse White Cross Industrial Estate, South Road, Lancaster, Lancashire LA1 4XQ

One of the best eating places in Lancaster. Really good intersting food but not too trying to be too fancy and they do a fixed price thing on Mon and Tues nights which is a good deal. (it might be other nights as well)
Quirky decor and nice staff.

Verdes Restaurant - Lancaster

Now Closed
owner run off to Portungal with the staffs wages and HMRC on his tail.

mark4155 Gone but not forgotten. A great owner with great staff, it will be sadly missed. Staff wages missing – well if true that’s bad. HMRC? well they should get some more out of the big boys and leave Fernanado (Verdes owner) alone.

The Yorkshire House - Lancaster

2 Parliament Street, Lancaster, Lancashire LA1 1DB

As stated by others a superb alternative ale house. Dark and scary just the way the customers like it. Vey helpful bar staff to advise on the intruiging and ever changing ale range. Watch out for the real ciders. they will hurt your head.
Famously venerated in the classic ale book “The longest crawl” keep an eye out for the bus spotters and other human like creatures that hide in the shaddows.
Best Juke box in the North West as long as you believe Joe Stummer is a god amongst mortals.
No grub. No parking. No idiots.
